I NEVER knew about Pyro field making you immune to explosions from kamikaze bots. I never would have guessed either. What I would usually do is use my agility buff and run/strafe past the bots and escape blast. If my agility is buffed to at least 5, this works...about 80% of the time.
Pure Psi has issues in dealing with the maintenence bots and turrets. The one on decks 1 and 2 I can just evade. Agility buff helps. But the bots in Hydro A...not quite so. Its possible to save up tones of modules and get tier 4 robot immobilization by then, but its still a pain to use that plus adrenaline plus cryo plus pyrofield plus...whatever else I end up using. And I can't go through psi hypos too quickly that early. But you see, that is merely an example of why many people don't like OSA. I prefer to remove threats quickly and efficiently, not "ok turn on this, this, and that, now equip this, etc"
However I have found Psi/Energy Combos (with no points in any other weapon category) to be quite interesting. And I agree that invisibility is cheesy.

you can zip around at the speed of light thrusting your mighty PSI blade into all who oppose you, brutally raping them in a single blow.
:o
Unintended sexuality aside, I'm just not disciplined enough to go around using different abilities to kill a single enemy. I find it much easier to just run+gun. When I try to play OSA I can never really get into the game, as playing around with the power selection always kills the experience for me. Don't know why, just does.

I thought the OSA options were cool, but I also like how across the game there's a lot of BFG options that are worthless when you consider what they gave versus what it took to be able to use them.
The fusion cannon looked way cool. I never thought it was a very practical weapon to be able to use.
OSA was the same way. On impossible mode, how many powers can you really acquire with the high cost of upgrades?
