I've now installed my HTPC and it's working okay, although there are still some niggling bugs. One of them is this: Windows seems to think that the display I've got is 1440p, when it's actually a regular Full HD TV. The computer is hooked up to a Sony receiver via HDMI, and that receiver is connected to the TV, again via HDMI.
Anyone know why Windows is confused as to the TV's resolution? And is there any way I can convince the system that, no, there's no point in upping the resolution?
P.S.: It actually seems to be more than just Windows; when the computer boots, the TV doesn't display all of the ASUS boot screen, as if the system thought the TV was bigger than it actually is.

Sounds like an overscan issue - probably something you'll need to fix via a display setting on your Sony receiver. Which model of receiver are you using?

It's a STR-DH800. I've had a laptop hooked up to it before, but it hasn't been an issue.

Hmmm... doesn't appear to have many settings that would affect that. Have you tried connecting the system to the TV directly without having the receiver in the path?

Not yet, though I'll do so at some point. Once I've exhausted Google, most likely. :)

What GFX card are you running in the PC, got the latest driver installed.? And how it connected to the TV, DVI or HDMI..?

It's an onboard graphics chip, the Intel HD Graphics 4400. The drivers should be current, though I'll check. Also, it's HDMI all the way down.
