I install game, it tells me my specs are fine. I load it, the graphics are set to low and the res 1024. Whatever. When I actually load, I get about 10 frames a sec. Lower graphics and res to minimum, I get about 15 frames a sec. What the hell?
My specs:
Windows Vista 32 bit
Intel(R) Core 2 CPU 6400 2.13 GHz
2 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE 256 mb

Your video card is way less powerful than the rest of your system. But you should be getting better performance.
Any heavy programs running in the background? Latest video drivers installed?

The 7300LE is going to hold you back big time. That's an ultra budget card, and stalker is a very demanding game. My 6800gt is about 3.5 times faster in terms of shader unit, and it still chugs on dynamic lighting/lowest.

I can run static lighting with medium-high settings at 1024x768 on a 6200.
Are you runing FDR Max?

Make sure you have lighting set to the lowest settings and that npc flashlights are turned off. I can run 1280 x 1040 Anisotropic 6x AA 4x Full Dynamic lighting and everything on high with my rig:
3 gigs ddr2 ram
radeon x1950 pro 256
1.87ghz core 2 duo intel
2 150 gig hds

The biggest hit to performance is full dynamic lighting, followed by texture detail. Try lowering your texture detail and (if necessary) revert to static lighting. And yes, get a new card if you want to play games on that machine.

Anyone with slower cards like 7300 LE should NOT have dynamic lighting on. :eww:

I had the same problems as you did. It just took a bit of tweaking and now it runs beautifully. Try Here:

Read through this and some of the other pages, too. There's also a link to a No Head-bobbing mod on the pages before, which I find incredibly useful.
I wouldn't say texture affect the game play, just the load times, everything is perfect once the game is up and running, so i use max textures at 1440x900.
my comp is
1.86 gHZ (total 2.7 cause i have a very large bus)
Geforce Go 6800 256mb
WinXP Home
1 gig ram

Texture resolution, screen resolution, AA, AF; all this affects video memory. With 256 MBs I don't recommend maxing all of them out.

I can play the game with everything at max except for texture detail at an average of 25fps. If I max texture detail 25fps drops to about 8fps.
