Stop getting confused, Kokes. Visceral might have done SS2.5 Dead Space, but Dante's Inferno doesn't even come close.
Bioware could do a far better job. You know what SS2 was missing amidst the sentient AIs, psychotic robots, and crew logs? Dialogue trees.

I find the fact Dead Space is considered SS2.5 deeply offensive.

I agree. Dead Space is nothing compared to SS2.

You people are unable to read facetiousness even when it's smacking you in the face like a greasy kielbasa.
If you think that I think Dead Space is SS2.5 or 2¼, or 2½ or whatever infinite fraction short of 2.6, you haven't even read up to the 6th post in this thread.

I don't care what you think, but it does seem to be a recurring theme on TTLG. I mean, the Dead Space = SS2.5 is the recurring theme, not people don't caring what you think. The thread is even named "Dead Space - a new System Shock?" if I remember correctly.
Also, System Shock 2 is serious business.

I'm sorry, I missed that particular banner-waving festival. Are you sure you weren't overdosing on antidepressants during that point?
The thread's title was speculation before we even had any information beyond that it was going to be 'sci-fi survival horror'. And if you missed the (pages and pages of) discussion, a lot of us decided that if DS had actually been named System Shock: Necrophage or SS two and one-fourths or SS3.14159265 (System Shock Pi sounds great, actually), we'd have all torn it to shreds in a straight-up comparison.
As it stands, DS is influenced by and pays homage to SS2, and it's enjoyable on those terms as well as on its own merits. If they make it part of the Shock franchise, though, that's where you'll find that, instead of hoisting the game's flag, people might just shove the pole right up EA's bunghole.

Surprised, are you? On these forums?

Set me on fire for saying this, but i love S.T.A.L.K.E.R almost the same way i love System shock and Deus ex. (almost) Why ? because the producers actually thought about the story before making it, even the reviewers didn't understand it fully. Another great game (russian too) is Metro 2033.

I think Capcom should make SS3.2

Nailed it.
