We, collectively, is a bit like that pet of yours, that curls up in your lap, purrs, moans, stretches and then rather unexpectedly bites you hard in the genitals.
We're all cute, fuzzy and cuddly, but will occasionally cause great harm. Sorry about that.

Well, I'm not the crying type myself, but there's something about animals (hell, even insects), that tugs at my heartstrings. I still cry about our first cat that was put down, and that happened years ago! Good luck getting Chester back...

I was dragged along to see Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. When
the little girl dies of cancer I laughed outloud.
At home I watched a documentary about a wolfpack of a male, female, and three puppies. All the others had died. Then the mom falls through ice and drowns. I got all choked up. They didn't even try to help her! :erg:

I cried because my son was crying when his pet Tarantula didn't make it through her first moult. Her name was Spot. On the other hand, I shed nary a tear when my daughter's (anole) lizard, Cheech, escaped its aquarium and one of our cats turned it into a statistic. I was just glad my daughter was away on a camping trip. I told her Cheech ran away when she came home; she didn't cry, she just asked if she could have a Guinea Pig. Six months later when Sir Didymous (the pig) escaped his confines and our Siberian (Sally) thought it was a furry toy and 'tossed' it to death (at least we think that's what happened), I proclaimed that we would not have any more Very Small Pets in our house hereafter. Six gerbils, two hamsters, and one snake later I'm still standing firm on that. (My husband once cheerfully advised me that fish, cats and dogs do not fall into the Very Small Pet category, so I can't include any of those while tallying the statistics here.)
You have to know when to take a stand.

Well, it wasn't Chester :( When I first saw him, at the shelter, I knew it wasn't him. I did look for another minute though just to make sure. There were 2 kittens in a cage together that were trying to grab me. They really wanted some attention, so I played with them for awhile. One was a grey tabby, and the other was sorta tan and white. The little grey one almost got me to take him home, but he was still listed as stray so his owners had about 5 days to come and look for him. Maybe I'll go back in about 3 or 4 days to pick him up. Chester is gone for good, but this was a nice look back into his life. I just wish I knew what the hell happened to him so I can get some closure. Thanks for your support guys.

Sorry to hear that. I lost my cat for two weeks once, which was terrible. After that I got her a chip implanted so she would be recognised by any veterinarian or animal shelter.
16 months is an awfully long time though.

I heard a rumour that George Michael can do that...
