I'm level 11 now and I'm still using the same Silver Claymore I had when I was level 2. I'm finding new armors, but never any decent weapons. Am I just missing them? I've been doing the fighters guild quests in Balmora and Vivec. I'm a defender now or something... I'm just wondering if y'all know of anything I've missed.
Also, I'm having some problems with one of the Balmora fighters guild quests. The one where I'm suppose to kill 4 orcs, or at least their leader. Alof the Easterner told me to go northeast, just west of an old dunmer stronghold. I can't remember the exact name of this orc hideout, but it started with Ashun.. or the like. I think I found the place. But, i can't find any orcs, just some other man species... I killed them all...

I dont know about the Orks, but having a Silver claymore is still pretty good... they tend to knock people down after a hit or two, leaving them open for more attacks. AND silver claymores have the added bonus of being able to hurt ghosts, because they're silver. If you want to make your Claymore even better though, find an enchanter, bring a good Soul gem (Like a winged Twighlight, Golden Saint, or Hunger) then talk to that enchanter about enchanting one of your weapons. pick the weapon and the soul gem. you can even rename the blade if you want... I prefer Rabbitlsayer for my Daedric dagger :) then set the different things the blade does. Make sure you have it set on (Cast When Strikes) Me I have my Rabbitslayer with an enchatment of shock damage. 6-37 points of damage each strike :cheeky: excellent combo with a paralyzing weapon. Paralyzing is also another good idea. theres Ice damage too, or Fire damage... theres tonnes of stuff to put on things, so long as the enchantment isn't to high.

Even at your level a silver claymore is an excellent weapon i'd back up Slith's suggestion of enchanting it.
The problem with people who like double handed weapons (like me and possibly you) is the fact that there is a big jump between steel and silver weapons to deadric weapons with little in between. Sure there are glass claymores and similar dwemer weapons but to be honest i have no idea how to get one of these artefacts at your level while i can pick up a daedric dai-katana at level 3. The only problem is at level 3 a daedric dai-katana weighs to much... LOL ;)
Good Luck

You can get the Umbra Sword from a fighter neer the eggmine of Suran. It's a two-handed sword with incredible stats. It's worth 110000 and is enchanted with 120s soultrap.
To get it you have to speak with the fighter, after a while he will say he's done with life and wants to die in battle. If you manage to kill him you can take the sword. But beware he is super strong, first time I fought him he knocked me down and killed me in three hits.
The second time I used a scroll and summoned a golden saint, I striked him a few times in the battle. Then he killed my golden saint and again focused on me. After a big fight in wich I must have consumed 10 standard restore healths he finally died.
He also has some nice orcish armor.

I wouldn't try killing Umbra at this stage of the game. Jinks Blade is good which you can get it by raiding a smugglers cavern. The other option is to go to a daedric shrine, kill some dremora, then take the weapon from their inventory. They usually carry daedric weapons, and if your lucky, you'll pick up one of their shields. With your low skills, the easiest way to take on the creeps at the shrines, is to use the door trick. Get their attention by yelling, " Hey you! Get your stinky rotten ass over here! " ( It works really well. ) Once they start coming for you, run to the nearest door to the outside or load screen, move close enough that you can escape when you want. Use the weapon you're best with when fighting them and do as much damage as you can. Once your health has depleted down to a low level, turn around and go outside, rest until healed, then re-enter the fight. Keep doing this until the AI's are dead. The one thing you want to avoid is " There is danger nearby you can not rest here." Because of this, sometimes it's better to use a interior door that loads the new screen.

Hmm.. just one thing, Dremora generally carry Dwarven or dreugh weapons if you're lower level; it's only as you get your level up that they start to carry better weapons.
