But look who is telling you.
If you don't get it by now then don't bother. Don't watch the Wire - you don't deserve it. Just don't fag up threads with your ignorant opinions, mmmk?
And the pic was brought up to show how not cool you are. Re-read the thread.
Fine, I can see this little argument isn't going anywhere.
Btw, that point about the pic is invalid. I don't give a damn if I'm cool or not. It's only immature and shallow people that care about popularity and what others think of them.

It isn't going anywhere because you are basically putting your fingers in your ears and going LALALALALALALA.
I agree with you about most US crime shows.
I'm telling you The Wire is different.
Other people one here who like The Wire are not known for their odd, bad or mainstream junk tastes.
And despite all this you refuse to even consider it?

I'm willing to watch the first episode or so(when it comes on TV) but it doesn't look too thrilling judging by the ads.

Anyone with a modicum of sense knows that you cannot judge things by the ads.
Forget it. Don't watch it. Your half-assed assessment will be worth less than the oxygen you waste expressing it.

For me it's a tie between Bodie, Bubbles and Randy. Michael's also a heartbreaker, but the others get me more for some reason.

Here's where I admit that I don't reeeeallly care too much about Bubbles.
:o

That's okay. We still love you.
While backing away slowly and calling the cops.

I figured since your tastes in entertainment are so much more refined than mine you'd know better than to judge a show by the ads. :erg:

Andarthiel, I have never seen an episode of The Wire, and unless my life goes horribly awry I think it's safe to say I never will.
I lived with a friend once who watched the entirety of The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Carnivale in the living room, and although these shows were constantly playing as I passed through our shared space I wasn't once compelled to sit down for even five minutes to see what the fuss was about.
But, having said all that, I at least recognize and respect the acclaim all these shows garner, and if the concept of spending countless hours in front of a television didn't make me break out in cold sweats, you'd better believe these are the shows I'd queue up first for extended consumption.
My point? You're dismissing gold standard entertainment in a manner that indicates you wouldn't know The Wire from Three's Company. I don't know the first thing about The Wire, but I do know that dismissing it as just another crime show is idiotic.
Don't get me wrong: you have a right to your opinion, however stupid and malformed it is, and you have a right to speak it.
But we have the right to then consider your opinion on television utterly worthless.
