I apologize. You are correct. I had forgotten that, but on a comparison to The Wire, it was "best".
We need (the forums not "we") a way to date the quotes. Especially those from months or even years previous.
Again I apologize, and I'll try to be more circumspect in the future, but not to the point of calling up every post I ever made to cross check.
Like you, I'm not always "right" but I'm never wrong. :)

NCIS can suck a dick
fett on 8/1/2010 at 05:20
I don't know, my wife watches NCIS a lot and I find that it ends one or two ways:
1) We are more clever than the bad guy, still, we barely caught him in the nick of time
1a) before he killed a member of our team. Again.
2) We did not catch the bad guy because that's how it is in REAL LIFE, let's all be introspective about good and evil in the world.
Edit: Also, yes it can suck a dick because I can't take one more show where the techy/computer person is quirky, "dangerous," and doesn't fit in with the other cops/co-workers because she (never he) is goth/wears crazy glasses/sports an 80's hairstyle.
2nd Edit: Also, can't NCIS be inter-changed with Criminal Minds without losing a single character or storyline? And aren't they both bad CSI carbon copies to begin with?

Good call fett, but I get a kick out of Abbie. :)
Except for the corrupt hardass cops you could say the same about The Wire. Minus the computer geek, of course.

yes let's all stroke our beards and talk about how all crime dramas are the same
then let's drink some brandy and have a circlejerk
frozenman on 8/1/2010 at 05:46
I'm generally all for circlejerks but I'm afraid that the results would leave too much evidence for the crime-professionals to catch us.
Unless we're on a boat?

If the think NCIS can be related to the wire at all you just don't get it or you're on some high quality LSD right now.
Either way your judgement re: TV shows cannot be trusted.

The typical NCIS viewing experience in pictures.
You get this a lot though. I infer, from circuitous reading, that even (
http://botherer.org/blog/) John Walker thinks Leverage is better than The Wire for similar reasons. I've encountered such views from people I know as well: The Wire is too convoluted, or too slow or something. Where's the gimmick, where's the drama, where's the lead characters, where's the buildup, where's the payoff, where's the witty banter episode to episode? Where's the A-plot, the B-Plot, the unfolding long term plot?
It's breaking or failing at the rules of entertainment as understood by these people and therefore can't be called "good television". Good television, to be called well written, would do all of these things. It's not doing what TV is supposed to do.
It's a tin-eared, limited point of view completely lacking in imagination and mired in stuffy old archetypes I hope are soon swept away (with The Wire as the broom). But it's something the show will be up against in the general public for a long time yet, I suspect.
