In Bonehoard my natural instinct lead me to abuse the fire arrow trap so the zombies get chunked and I got to rob in peace.
In RTC, sadly I only really played trough it once (I have to revisit it now). I saw the haunts, and I was scared as hell. I was on a second floor ledge of some sort. I then took out my two trusty flashbombs and jumped right in the friggin' middle of them all, alerting half the universe with Garrett's tapdancing shoes colliding with solid marble. Click-click - two flashes and all the haunts were gone.
LOL that's an awesome story.
And wow good show with the firetrap! Everytime I tried that the zombies would just walk right past it and miss getting hit! :P
I gave up and just ran. It's terribly easy to just run right past them all once you aren't afraid of them anymore. Of course there's GETTING to that point of zombie acceptance.
Once I FINALLY found all the goldbones (and I had to cheat a little by looking online) I had enough fire arrows to just destroy most of them. yet still not ALL!

I don't really need speed potions. Waste of money. I found one in bonehoard. I guess it could have been used for the fireshadow and burrocks. The FS is just damn scary!
Chased me all the way to the sleeping burrocks outside the horn tomb so I shot a fire arrow at the burrocks to wake them all up. Hilarity ensued (well wasn't so funny for the burrocks who all died)
Stories like this are classic and Im sure we have all had our share of awesome moments just like it in Thief: The Dark Project, and part II. I love it when people start talking about these things, even if it is nostalgic, it is still *awesome*. Will we have moments like that in Thief IV? Did we even have them in part III?!

Knowing the golden bones, the collecting of them, and the unseen Mystic came from earlier games, I went looking some years ago, and while the concept is copied, I was hoping there would be backstory to go along with it. Where did it start? Was it from a book, a D&D module, or was it really introduced in CRPGs? Also, it's one of many things introduced into The City, but never really touched on again in any way.

I remember booting up Might and Magic VII for the first time, shortly after I finished Dark Project, and when I got to the Wizards first promotion quest, I laughed to myself, as you had to find the 6 golden golem parts that were scattered across the lands. The golden legs, arms, torso, and skull. Or did it come after, in Thief: Gold? I can never remember which. :ebil:

And when EM uses the word "mystic" why do I get the sense they aren't talking about anything like the Mystic and his Heart and Soul? In the sound files, there's an unused file, a piece of Renault's thank you to Garrett, meant for the super special Hammerite of the golden bones in the Bonehaord, who simply would say "Thank you" to the player for returning his bones, and show his gratitude with the elemental crystals and potions that appear. I'd like to know who that guy was, and why we've never seen another Saint or MasterForger treated in that special way.

yeah I think one thing the bonehoard needed was to make the goldenbones an actual part of the mission. It definitely needed more of a backstory for sure.
I also always wished that all those alarm buttons everywhere in places like cragscleft and bafford's had an offswitch or disconnect somewhere. I was sure embarrassed the first time i actually pressed that button haha.

Yeah. And even then, some people managed to forget all those electronic securities in TDP/Gold while dissing them in TMA. Ramirez's Estate, Cragscleft, the Hammer Temple...
