Yep. Heavily modded. It has less and less Doom 3 assets in it as time goes on. They had to stick with some things for awhile, but now they can get rid of them, but even then, the amount of Thief versus Doom 3 in TDM is massive and appreciated.

hmmmmm why would people combine these two games that are sooo far apart? :)
I so hated doom3. I mean i like hoorror games but that game just wasn't scary. The first like 15 minutes was good then it was just so repetitive
interesting that they thiefed it up.
so it is doom 3 engine with thief gameplay?
or is it just doom 3 with thief sounds and monsters
okay just watched the video
*drooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool*
man so amazing!

Now you understand...You can thank New Horizon, Springheel, and others for their excellent work.
EDIT:
Enjoy...(

They needed an engine that would allow them to mod it with Thief in mind, and without legal trouble, and the creators of Doom also tend to release the source codes for their games, which is really important. There was a long delay before Doom 3's engine source was released, so that certainly affected TDM development, but they kept on. The deep skepticism about Doom 3 alone has hurt their recruitment and acceptance, but they've been able to remove one Doom-related stumbling block after another.

sounds like a good deal :)
THANKTHANKTHANKTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANK!YOU! :)
SO here's the question in my head. What made you do this? Why wasn't the thief 3 editor used instead? Or did you just not think it was interesting.
Or is there not one? I swear there was.

I hate to disturb the PR campaign to return to topic:

A lot of Garrett's appeal for me was that he was just so common in a lot of ways. Not a great sword-fighter, fleet of foot but not blink fast, pretty ordinary in appearance. Always worrying about paying his rent and things like that. Some improved climbing ability is fine with me, but if they've turned him into some kind of hyper-gymnastic superfreak, I won't like that at all.
I basically agree, but the canon really says that he is extraordinarily fast (c.f. the women's chat after Garrett was ambushed in the Crippled Burrick Pub). Of course this isn't a die-hard classification and might be not too far away from "fleet of foot", but quickness is surely something we can assume for a hero without making him less believable or cartoony.

He flashbombed the scene, knocked a guard out, and slipped into a shadow. We don't know if the fast movement was into the shadow, or what came first, or was an assumption based on expecting to see/hear him moving in the shadow, and not.
The Thief 3 editing (T3Ed) is a nightmare, and of course, the engine (Flesh Engine) has to be hacked to allow restoration of some Thief basics. The work is too much for anyone. We don't have the source code, either. People managed to get some crude restoration done, but the most enthusiastic and persistent modders gave up years ago.

Don't know about the English version, but the German clearly says: "I've never seen a man
run so fast before!"
Edit: Yes, the English version is indeed different and just talks about (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15GLSg5lazg#&t=1m48s) moving fast.
About T3Ed: No/no unless you got a deranged idea about Thief basics/no/indeed we have no source code/yes, we have some restoration (which is however part of the deranged mindset mentioned earlier) and a couple of other nice ideas that can still be expanded/no (contradiction in itself)

TDM started in the days when it was assumed there wouldn't be a Thief 3 editor. Everyone was all skulking about, wondering if it'd ever happen, when suddenly this English kid with crazy eyes and a bunch of weird ideas came in and said...
"HAY! WHY DON'T WE MAKE THIEF FOR DOOM 3"!
And that's when DoomThief started. A few months later, due to some people having a critical lack of taste, and not knowing what cool is even if it sat on their collective faces, decided to (tragically) rename it to The Dark Mod.
The rest is history.

Actually playing Garrett in the games, he's never seemed supernaturally fast. Maybe he's holding back and running just fast enough to get away.
