Why on earth would the give garret parkour skills? I mean come on, he never learned it, he only knows how to get up on top of some crates or something like that. He's a thief, not a runner. The game will now be too easy to get away from stuff. (

That story is certainly less optimistic than the others. Particularly concerning to me is the AI. Apparently, its low quality is the result of an early build. I hope that is the case.

As if wasn't always too easy to get away from stuff in the earlier games. Perhaps now you'll actually have to use some of those parkour skills in order to escape, instead of running circles around your enemies or simply just... uh... running away?
As long as this parkour doesn't mean Prince of Persia style wall-running, I think it'll be fine. I thought that it worked extremely well in Mirror's Edge at least.

That's a bit confusing, yeah. The other stories so far have been rather positive about the AI, and now this... I do hope that it is just because of some early build indeed, because the improved AI is something that I'm really looking forward to in Thief 4.

They can't leave Assassin's Creed junk out of Thief. They cannot let go of their nostalgia for having worked on AC titles and which sold well. Automated and guided movement is not Thief! Acrobatics isn't Garrett! 3rd-person pre-determined takedowns aren't Thief! Garrett visibly showing off isn't Thief!

Geez guys, I sure would love it if someone made a Thief game that had a city that was like one huge Life of the Party.
Oh geez, guys. They made a game that's like one huge Life of the Party, but since a bunch of other mainstream games came out that are similar to the concepts they're showing us now, I'm gonna say they sold us out and hate it forever.

Wait ... didn't EM discredit nostalgia, refusing to allow nostalgia to dictate that they HAD to use Stephen Russell - which is one reason they went with a new person to be the voice of a character from a game that's over a decade old?
The other reason being, obviously, Mr. Russell must not have been very good at parkour.
Who is these days.
I mean, except for my cat.

Let's see what else AC has corrupted in Thief[4]. Can't wait to find out. It's far from over, taffers.
Tomi on 6/4/2013 at 02:17
Let's see what good things they've brought over from AC too.
jtr7 on 6/4/2013 at 02:24
Like what? Let's get it out of the way so we'll understand each other better down the road.
Tomi on 6/4/2013 at 02:31
Heh, there's not much that I can think of really. Mainly because AC and Thief are totally different kind of games, don't you think?
Some of the visuals maybe? The parkour stuff could be alright with a bit more realism and much less restricted movement. But this whole comparison is absurd anyway, we might as well be talking about what ideas the developers are getting from Minesweeper.
