I've heard people say I should get a Dell, but I heard they're overpriced. What I'm hoping to get is an HD screen, a decent amount of RAM and a videocard that can handle the latest stuff.
What about tablet style PCs? Are there any good ones out there? All the ones I've seen max out at about a 14 inches screen size.

"Gaming" and "Laptop" is bad enough combination, and you want "value" as well?

I've got an (

The Toshiba (
http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio) Qosmio line looks like it could "take it all in", especially the (
http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X305) X305, which boasts a twin 9800GT SLI setup, up to 4GB DDR3 system memory, up to a Quad Q9000, etc. (which is all offset by the fact that it's incredibly tacky looking). The prices are nothing short of what you'd imagine, though. Koki's point is, unfortunately, quite true - in the case of gaming laptops, "good value" only means it's slightly more lubricated a bumrape than the other bumrape in the category, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny. For the X305, prices are in the 1500-1800$, depending on configuration, and I don't think that includes taxes.
