Who do you think is better? JC or Garrett? Each of them have what the other doesn't and they're both really cool characters.
I've driven myself crazy asking myself this question so I'll leave it up to you guys.

Oh come on. THat is HARDLY a question. I mean in DX, you are a Super-nano-augmented agent. With, A sniper rifle, an assault rifle, a GEP gun, and a dragons tooth sword. All of them, save the dragons tooth out range, and are FAR more powerful then ANYTHING Garret has. Even if the Bow arm thing existed, Denton would still be FAR more powerful. In ALL WAYS. So yeah, there shouldn't really be anymore posts on this topic. I think everything is pretty much taken care of... Sheesh. I mean Thief was a good game but, the character was kinda a weakling... especially compared to JC Denton.

I'm not sure if he's asking this in a "who'd win in a fight" kind of way. I personally think Garrett is much better. JC's personality is intentionally left pretty blank so the player can be whatever kind of character they want to. He's nothing more than what you make of him (and I always tried to make my JC as thiefy as I could). Garrett will always be Garrett. You gotta love that about him. :) There's no beating his quotes either. You know you can't take it with you...but I can. :sly: JC's dialogue is fairly bland and monotone.

Jc lacks the personality, but makes up for it in skills. Both are cutting edge for their time, so I call a tie.

well, here is what i say. keep in mind i am basing personality off of what i have heard (i only playeyd a small demo of Thief which only had gameplay)
Personality: Garret (well, JC probably had a lot of his personality programmed out)
Skill: Denton (think of it this way. steal some loot from a highly guarded area. or fight a huge militia/organization as a 1 man army. plus the battles. the nanos help, but it still requires all his skills)
so, it depends on what you think more. if we mean better as in who can kick who's ass, JC (even assuming they had the same techs). if it means who you relate to better, i would have to go with JC (his whole world is crumbling. nothing is the same. i think he is coping well. lol). as for Garret just hiding in shadows, 3 words: "light amplification augmentation". but if it were who could assasinate someone best, Garret. who could destroy a military outpost best, Denton.

It's a tough call... I actually thought JC had a lot of personality, just very subtle and not exactly readily obvious. For badass factor I'd have to say that JC takes the prize every time, though I really like Garret. One thing pretty basic about both characters is that they are black and white... Garret is a thief. A professional thief, but still, a thief. JC was a cop... a rogue cop going outlaw, but still, a cop. It really gets down to what closest fits your personality. Though I personally go with Garret. ;)

Jc could use a sniper rifle. Kill someone from 3000m away. and if he wanted to be upclose and personal stealth+cloak
