While waiting for patch #3.... - by Clock

I patched up to 1.0003 and lost my saves. So I'm asssuming patch 1.0004? (3rd patch) will give me back my saves.
In the meantime, way near the beginning, the map tells me there is a stash located under the roof of a small house by the bridge. This would be in the area where I'm supposed to meet a journeyman. If it's the building I'm thinking of, I wouldn't call it a "house". When the map indicates I'm sitting right on top of the location, it's a much larger industrial type building with holes in the roof. I can access the roof by climbing some outside steps to an "attic", then walking up some planks to actually get on the roof. Am I in the right spot ??
I can't load my save game because of the patch, but if someone can understand my question, I may start the game over again. Anyone know how long we'll have to wait for the 3rd patch?

But the patch states that you (are supposed to) keep your savegames after updating, right?
Are the savegame files still in the savegame folder?

I haven't looked into it closely. When I patched the game about an hour ago, and went to play, I got a message telling me the save game(s) were corrupt or something like that. I don't think they disappeared. They were just saved under a different version of the game.

Meaning you used the first patch which corrupts any saved games.

But if you already patched 1.0001 before, the 1.0003 update ain't gonna corrupt the saves, in other words?

I couldn't patch directly to 1.0003 without patching to 1.0001 first. When I tried, a window popped up telling me patching to 1.0003 from ver 1.000 (the original install) wasn't possible and it would only patch from ver 1.0001.
So I'm forced to patch twice. Now the question is, will my save games work when the next patch is issued. Or do I have to start over.
btw...Bjossi, I can't seem to find a Savegames Folder. It's not directly in the Stalker folder(s), but may be deep within a menu tree that only WinXP can rationalize. I'll keep looking.

Try next patch, but you are probably screwed unless you downgrade to 1.0.

Well I found my save games, buried within many subfolders.
That doesn't help me out any. They still won't work. But I guess I could copy the folder, uninstall Stalker, then re-install and not bother patching. Then insert the games folder and see if it works.
Question : Is there any benefit to having either or both patches. Or should I simply wait for the next one.

If you weren't experiencing any bad bugs,go back to the first patch and continue. It all depends on your rig,I suppose.
The worst bugs seem to be system crashers,Warehouse is a bad one,If you have been through there and haven't crashed,I would go for the backdate.
Other than that the game does have excellent replayability.:D

I'm not sure if I can uninstall the patches one at a time or whether the whole game gets uninstalled. Maybe I'll just hold back until the next patch is released, then see. If I end up having to start over, then so be it.
At the top of this thread was a question about where some stash is located. Can anybody answer that one for me. I would make note of it for the next time I'm there.
