and here's another for the list of impossibly vague stupid questions: "Jesus, being a prophet, should be respected; however, being a man, not be worshipped." If I disagree am I saying he SHOULD be worshipped, or am I saying that he's not a prophet?

Of course not all. But a lot of people where I live (of course, the mid west) are very ignorant and closed-minded. Yes.. I am aware that I'm stereotyping right now, but it's true, that it seems to me that athiests/agnostics are more free thinkers (I guess? not sure what to call it) then religious people. Of course that could be because religious people outnumber athiests/agnostics 100:1 at least probably.

I thought I'd be more jewish than agnostic. At least paganism is at the bottom. I'd worship Satan before getting near that stuff.

Not really, no. From what I've read, the point of the non-stereotypical satanism is founded on their belief that the 'old school' Christian God is evil, in the sense of his demands for conformity, worship of him, etc, etc. They believe that Satan is not the wicked eat-babies bloke, but rather that he is portrayed to be as such by Christianity, because he chose to not conform to DE SYSTEM, thus pisssing off God. God's smear campaign of Satan follows, and presto - you have a 'free spirit' portrayed as a wicked villian, a scapegoat, if you will.

Of course, there's always those cults that pretend that Satan speaks to them, but a 'real' Satanist has as much in common with them as a moderate Christian has with a bile-spewing 'burn the gheys' fundy.

At least, that's what they say.

Satanism, in its broad definiton, goes in hand with demonism and "diabloism", which is is basically a worship of demons. Having a "favorable" opinion of Satan is just kind of an odd idea to me. Acknowledgment of the existance of this belief apparently makes you a sort of heretic apparently.
