See, now that would make a good thread topic. SS2 really is junked up with useless or near-useless psi powers.
I'm still surprised that with all the dozens of powers you can aquire, there are only TWO ranged-combat powers. There really should have been some sort of brutal ranged attack available at tier 4 or 5. Chucking snowballs at turrets sucks.

So the fact that it means you can just walk through the end parts of the game without any AI even reacting to you doesn't seem overpowered to you?
Not on Impossible, it costs 200+ modules to get an effective version of it, I believe anyone who is ready to spend all that earns the right to have an easier time with the later parts of the game. Plus it doesn't do anything in the Shodan fight.

I've never played a pure Psi game (been meaning to...) apart from my Psi-sword only run, which doesn't really count, but I seem to recall there being three; cryokinesis, pyrokinesis and soma transference.
I'll agree that there are a lot of rather useless Psi powers, though.
Molecular Transmutation ('Alchemy') comes to mind, since you can't even manage to make enough nanites to compensate the psi hypo costs, even at with the highest Psi stat. (Admittedly, I'm talking about Impossible here.)

All the melee weapons because the AIs face acute retardation when the player is up close.

Wasn't there at least one mod that altered the midwives, allowing them to hit you even if you were crouched at close range?
Bjossi on 27/4/2007 at 13:12
I don't remember a mod that does that, but it would suck to not have the Midwife AI bug. :p
Jinx on 27/4/2007 at 13:24
^rofl at the 2 posters above me, it just so happens the poster right above you 2 made that mod
Bjossi on 27/4/2007 at 13:43
Heh, didn't know that. But I'm not gonna install it, I happen to like that AI bug.

You don't know what you're missing out on in SecMod...
