I don't understand why Exhibit A is even in there. It's been said from the beginning this will be a console game, and even so, you don't
have to play it on a console.
Or maybe people are just concerned with JP's beard?
I'm not arguing this point I'm just clarifying why A is most likely mentioned: lot of PC gamers hate console ports because sometimes they're lazily done and bring the console limitations to a PC game.

Same with some of the quick time stuff...seems like it's still in there too...but it sounds like they've been changed to 'escape' sequences. I'll be curious to read the player reviews.
They reportedly took out the "press X to not die" QTEs, but left in the "mash button to accomplish thing" stuff.
The escape sequences are a separate thing.

Funny. I thought they did away with the XP system. Looks like they just reworked it so they couldn't call it an XP system.
You almost have to hand it to EM, they know how to spin (lie directly to smiling fans) the hell out of their games features.

Nope. Take your strawman and put it in a field.

Wonder if you'll be forced to run during the escape sequences, or if you can stop and fight (or, heaven forbid, hide!). On the burning bridge one, I'm sure you'd just die by fire if you refuse to move, but the one escaping the Architect's House, the most you'd have to do is fight a few dogs and dodge some arrows from the looks of it.

If you want to spend a few hours to paint every meaningless collision object in a COD game, be my guest, the picture obviously isn't meant to be taken literally. It simply illustrates a trend in shooters, that while they may have the illusion of a believable environment, every single facet of exploration is completely closed off, creating a single funneling level design in order to herd players down a long series of over elaborate set pieces and cut scenes. All while stripping gameplay mechanics down to the absolute bare minimum as if it's some problem that they need out of the way for their cinematic exposition.
So the picture is simply mocking the fact that modern shooters essentially
feel like a single long invisible hallway, where you just sit back and view all sorts of B movie crap happening around you.

The players HUD toggles on and off throughout the escape event, so I assume all of those moments are when it's forcing you to run, but just speculation.

Nevermind that FPS games have been doing that a lot longer than Call of Duty's been around. Also, using CoD as your argument undermines your argument, okay? CoD is a mammoth franchise. It's not the only FPS game there is. Pick something else.

They had an example of that early on where you had to race to a place before the gate closes. However, I doubt there's anything interesting to be discovered on the way if you don't race. The architect's house escape seemed fairly linear and not really suited for sneaking.

Of course they have, the entire point is just about it becoming trendy since games like COD got so popular.

That's just silly, and no I won't be picking anything else. :thumb:
