Hi guys, just wondering if any of you are running any mods/tweaks that you would recommend to others. I'm currently running vanilla, but would be really interested in hearing about what's out there!

I'm not running any. I tried the -noprefetch thing, but it made the game stutter much more often in smaller parts. Not really an improvement.
Staying away from mods until I'm sure I've experienced the entire vanilla game. Keep on running into new stuff, so I haven't seen the need yet. Plus, I think too many of the mods out there overdo the accuracy instead of letting it serve it's purpose.

I'm running a few mods, along with some of my own tweaking. I would recommend playing without any gameplay changing mods the first time through but there are mods I would recommend to everyone anyway.
(
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/StANgER4147_Sound_Pack;77524) StANgER4147 Sound Pack is an excellent mod which replaces the sounds of most of the weapons with better ones. I felt the default sounds for some of the weapons were just too wussy, particularly the dragunovs.
There are a few audio fixing mods which fix things like people saying the same thing over and over and animations not matching sounds. Theres also some which offer better sounds for other things, like the 'bullet whizzing past you' sound. check this link: (

(
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/STALKER_Real_Gun_Names_Mod_English;77804) Real gun names is a nice mod which replaces the names of all the guns with their real life names.
(
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Weapon_Changes;77609) This weapon changes mod disables the zoom when using the iron sights which is really a matter of preference. On my second run through I am playing with crosshairs disabled and no zoom on iron sights. The mod I linked to also disables weapon degradation and allows most weapons to use most attachments so instead of using it I would recommend making the alteration yourself by changing the config/weapons/ scope_zoom_factor values to 90 in all scopeless weapons.
If bad translations and grammar annoy you then you might want to use (

The bad translations adds to the feeling :)
Anyway, I'm using DarkerNights and EMPORIKON plus some my own tweaks with spawning. The game is ok for me as is now.

I agree, the bad translation is part of the game. I looked at emporikon but didn't like some aspects of it, like being able to get the best weapons from trader right at the start. At the moment I'm just carefully tweaking the traders myself although I think the game could probably do with a few more of them.

Yeah, it's quite unbalanced, I tweaked it quite heavily myself.
