Which kind of water would you prefer? The deadly instant-kill water, or water that is inaccesible (through use of invisible walls)?

Well, I hate invisible walls. Instead of them I would use some kind of fences (where possible). And if one cannot make use of fances, it is IMHO better to have 'deadly' water...

I also hate invisible walls, but this is one exception. It's just feels more natural to assume that Garrett doesn't want to go swimming ;) than be instantly killed upon touching the surface.

I don't know, which one is more unnatural: invisible wall or water that kills instantly. :-) Taking a bath must be an extremely dangerous task in the City. If it is impossible to make Garrett swim, then he should at least drown (that is: sink and start loosing health after some time). I wonder if this could be done with stimuli.

I had lots of fun hitting guards in the Docks with fire arrows so that they would fall in the water - and that's why my vote goes for Thief: Deadly Water :). Both options are artificial, but the deadly one is more interesting.

Death water sort of sucks, but invisible blockers suck more.

Agreed.
Of course the city could be hit by a frek blizzard and all the water freezes over ;)

But then you'd have to work out weather effects. :ebil:
Damn I'd love to see some weather effects in this engine, it can add so much to the mood.

Death water definately but I don't know what the big hub bub is about with the water anyway. I never felt like water was essential to the Thief experience and I never missed it in TDS. There was only a few occasions in the 1+2 where you could swim anyway.
So really I'm not particularly miffed either way. Maybe it should be judged on a case by case basis though it does seem like any "invisible walls" could easily be replaced by a simple railing, just to kindof hide the wall atleast.

I voted for invisible wall. Although I usually hate them, I can buy them in this situation, that it's Garrett refusing to get wet or something. I CAN'T buy him drowning instantly (or crazier, being sent to Pavelock!)
