Just thought it would be interesting to know how the community views each game.
Please try not to base your opinion on the control system or graphics though, because there is a 6 year gap between the games (which is a LOT of progress in the games industry).
Anyway, I'll start this off by saying that I prefer SS1.
IMHO It had a better story
The "plug-ins" for your cyber interface were awsome (esp the skates)
Had a good variety of weapons
Having to manage your power was a great feature (do I power my shields so I can take a heavy beating, or pull out my Sparq/Ion beam and clear them out quickly)
and of I just can't forget the fun of DRUG TRIPS (what else were those Genious Mind Enhancer patches for :p )

For me, there is no contest between the two. I have replayed SS1 numerous times, but I've not had the same inclination with SS2. I felt that I was part of a team with the group on Earth even though communications were one-way. It was satisfying to know that your achievements were being noticed and the development from their initial suspicions to reliance on your actions was something that made the game very immersive.

I vote SS2 because I haven't played SS1...

Ive played both a lot... but SS2 wins it for me. Maybe im just a graphics whore, I dunno! lol. Just seems more my kinda thing. And there's no cyberspace, which was a great idea which just didnt cut the mustard in my book.

Out of interest - which did you play first?

ss1, because it was there first :)

I like both. And I know SS1 was revolutionary for its day.
But SS2 gets the nod from me.

'I can't decide.' sounds to me like: 'I have played both games but can't decide which is better.'
At least that's how I saw that option. :)

I agree, but my point was: how can you make a choice between the two games when you haven't played both of them? Voting for SS2 as the best of the two implies that you prefer it to SS1.
