No, I mean a lot of opposition as in the large number of people who liked silent run. I didn't expect that.
Straylight that is an excellent description. You are right, there are not many places which requires speed ehancement or microbial muscles to access, however I can think of at least one place which requires microbial muscles. I think you cannot access one of the doors at Osgoods if you do not lift the heavy crate. I think you are right about stacking up crates to over come speed ehancement reuqired areas as well. I am not too familiar with this because I never bother to stack crates. Just press the good ol' F7. There is one very silly and minor place which I know has no crates.
In the collapsed tunnels in Hong Kong, where you meet the first Karkian, you will not be able to read the scientist's last words if you do not use the speed enhancement.
Yup, you can circumvent both...

Silent Running is for impatient types who don't want to crawl. I prefer the ability to leap buildings in a single bound (and avoid crate stacking or certain laser obstacles).
Agressive defence is pretty useless IMO. Only commandos and bots shoot rockets at you, and if they're doing that, you're pretty dead anyway. The drone however, I find extremely useful for taking out bots and such. Lets me save on explosives and I don't have to fill a slot with Emps.
I dislike Vision Enhancement. I've never found it to be really useful in any situation. I LOVE the Targeting enhancement however. My main weapon is usually the Pistol, which I fully mod except for the scope. The scope screws up the pinpoint accruacy of the laser sight. With level 4 targeting enhancement, I can snipe with my pistol. Ditto the assault rifle (silenced assault rifle with pinpoint ranged targetting is quite deadly). Plus, I think it's cool to know how far away you're taking someone from.
I find Microfiber Muscle more useful then Combat Strength, but that's just my style.
I really don't use the others much at all.
The one I use the most though is good ol' F12.

Funny, I was able to do it w/o the speed enhancement...

Personally, I don't have any use for Aggressive Defense System. I haven't even bothered to try it yet. Maybe next time. I like my Spy Drones.<
Maybe so... but lemme tell ya, there's nothin' quite as satisfying as watching an MJ12 commando blow himself to pieces, as you sit idly by, munching on a sandwich and waving cheerfully at him. :cheeky:

The only place left I could think of which does require speed enhancement is in Hong Kong, if you want to visit the sniper's niche and then continue down to the advert platform and finally down to street level.

"Enchanced Targeting is very good aug. You can do some nice things with it."
First time through I picked ET - looked a bit more useful. Now, I consider
it a mistake. Don't need it at all - advanced rifle skill and a sniper
rifle with a few accuracy mods means never missing anyway. Range and target
health just aren't issues.
"I dislike Vision Enhancement. I've never found it to be really useful in any

The vision enhancement isn't too impressive until fully upgraded. Then it
allows seeing through walls - no surprises. Snipe underwater targets at
amazing ranges.

I prefer Targeting over Vision Enhancement. The reasons:
1) There's really no need to upgrade Targeting past level 2, but VE gets really useful only when fully upgraded.
2) Targeting makes you more accurate in lower skill levels, so you don't have to use so much skill points in weapon statistics.
So Targeting is cheaper in terms of aug upgrades and skill points.
The only aug I've never used, though, is the Run Silent aug. Perhaps I should give it a try in the near future...
gbayles on 24/4/2002 at 21:34
Yes - it is true that VE isn't that useful until fully upgraded - that's why I save a few aug canisters so I can upgrade it asap. Then it's the aug I use most frequently.
Weapon accuracy is simply not an issue with me by the time I have to make this choice.
