Balmora seems to be a popular place to live-can see why. Lots of services, easy transport, and it also has the added advantage of being near to Caius and the other Blades, which is handy at first when you're a little baby adventurer who needs looking after :)
I live in the Council Club, and have just acquired a second home, one of those lovely little apartments in Vivec. It's useful to have more than one base, especially when you get loads of stuff later on.
BTW, I discovered the other day that you can move in with the Balmora Blades members if you want to....their houses aren't that big, but you can sleep in their beds without getting nabbed. I found this out unexpectedly when I was poking around Tyermaillin's place and accidentally clicked on his bed. I had a good eight hours, and he didn't mind a bit :)

Help - I think my game might be screwed. I can load the CD in alright, but once I click on the quick saved game I want to load, the screen jumps to the desktop and stays there. What in the world did I do wrong?!?

If you can load older savegames, you probably just got unlucky and got a corrupted quicksave due to where you saved (some plugin-based NPCs are funky and seem to do that, for instance). A defrag might help, but it's a long shot. If you can't load any savegames at all, defrag and then (if you're still not OK) figure out what you did to your machine last and undo it.
Re: places to live, I still say the Vivec mage guild is best; plant your recall just outside its front door, and you can be at any city or town in the entire game (well, except Ghostgate) within a few minutes. Just run inside and teleport, or run out the plaza's east exit and jump off the northeast corner into the water; you have a boat and a stilt strider right there. If you have the master index plugin loaded, you can also be at any Ashlander camp in less than 5 minutes, but that's true as long as you have a mage guild close to your recall point.

I restarted a new game - same character - different attributes...:erg:

Currently live in Balmora, in Ralen Hlaalo's house. Course, he's still there, dead, on the floor, and won't go away...
The maid upstairs bugs me, so I locked her in her room. Once a week or so, I pick the lock and give her some food, and then lock her back in.
Cast mark on my balcony, from which (on the few occasions when I've needed to...) I can check for guards before heading to South Wall for a bit of a price fix. Otherwise, it's in the door, upstairs for a nap, and then all the way downstairs to my storage area. (Nothing is stored in my bedroom--that's for sleeping...and other bed activities :ebil: ...only)
The first set of shelves holds my spare clothes/items to be enchanted/potions.
The second set of shelves holds my spare weapons, armor, and armor-fixer-tools.
The dining room area has been converted into a library. I'm currently working on acquiring myself a complete set of the Sermons of Vivec.
Finally, the crates and sacks in the corner hold my alchemy ingredients and apparatus, with one crate being reserved for precious and semi-precious stones (which I don't use for alchemy potions--why waste a good emerald on a *potion*?).
Thinking of getting myself a vacation home, though, probably something in/near Vivec, if only for the enhanced transportation options.
It just occurred to me that perhaps the scariest thing about all this is that my Morrowind home is more neat and organized than my IRL home......

Of course not. Don't be silly. IRL, I'd feed her once a day, and probably allow bathroom breaks too......:joke:

I'd like to rent somewhere but I'd happily move in somewhere that had been vacated such as a tower or monastery that was empty of that I had to empty.
Also - I could create an empty building with freindly NPCs in the editor couldn't I? Sounds good. I almost wish it were a MMORPG. Am I the only person who lugged all my stuff around until Mister Cosades left his house?
He gives you his house and puts you in charge of the blades in Morrowind ... really quite simple.

3. Many gems... a dragons horde worth. Daedric too...
4. Most of the weapons, items, and other from tamrielic lore.
(Forgot pic, so ill list them Skull Crusher, Chysamere, Staff of magus, Cresent, Mace of molag bal, Scourge, Spear of Bitter Mercy, Curiass of Saviors hide, Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, Vampiric Ring, Ring of Surroundings, i think thats it.)

nice screenies:eek:
My character's pretty tame by comparison - dressed in drab common dark brown clothing and shoes of course (yes, there are Ninja in Vvardenfell), and my only weapons now are bound dagger, bound longbow, bound longsword, bound axe, a bound shield and cuirass, and an enchanted wakizachi short blade (4-20 chop hit points). My security and sneak are almost at 100% and I've yet to do anything Caius has asked me yet. I will soon enough - as soon as I have sneak up to 100%.
Oh - and I have chosen to "reacquire" my slave market house close to Suran's strip joint.;)
