You can't do it so that the books automatically shows up... But you can make it look like it does. It won't be pretty but I'm quit sure it's doable. When you add a book to the bookcase ( it's now a container ) a new book get's transported to the first 'slot' on the bookcase. So it won't be the same book. Hell it won't even look like the real book but maybe that won't madder?
If you want I can tell you how to do it.

That's what I was thinking... I don't know how to do it though. And I personally like having the real books on the shelves. *shrugs*
They have this quiver mod that does something similar. The quiver takes the place of a pauldron and depending on how many arrows you have equipped, it shows 1 arrow, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 or 12 (full).

I thought about another way..
If you make the bookcase an activator and when the activate it, it'll check your entire inventory for every book and if you have one the bookcase will remove it and place it on a predetermined spot on the bookcase. This would be cool for collectors and can also be made so it's all in alfhabetical order. The problem though, is that it would be a big task of writing down every book ID.

I used a hybrid of what has been offered here to display books. I gave up on trying to script a way to ‘place' books on a bookshelf, (but I think I will have to give Book Rotate 4.1 a look, to see his/her solution). Instead I used a regular container, but replaced the image with that of a bookcase (and gave it a unique name, of course). Now clicking on the ‘bookcase' opens a container into which I can place my books...and Zaphod, they will automatically re-alphabetize after each new addition or removal! ;) To make it more visually appealing, I placed and oriented actual books on the bookcase once it was located in my room. It was as tedious as you imagine. Better would have been to create an image of a bookcase with books in it and map that to my container, but I have no way of manipulating textures or graphics *sigh*. Either way, it is a static image (it doesn't update as books are added/removed; it certainly doesn't represent the actual books stored). This thread has inspired me to return to the original problem and see if it is possible to create a truly dynamic bookcase.

I recommend the Book Rotate mod, it's very useful....makes such a nice change to be able to stack books upright instead of having them all in silly piles all the time.
There are so many mods out there, I have trouble keeping up with them all. I'm always worried I'm going to miss the best ones :)

i don't have a home, i used the orc's house in balmora, but that got old, then i used a spare room in the ald run fighters guild.
I must say that right now i live on the island with the talking mudcrab. He's got twice the $$ as creeper (5000 * 2 = 10,000) however travel is the trouble. i could run at speed of 277 to vivic, but i just use mark, racall, and alumsvi intervention.
the mud crap is on a small island east and north of vivic, and kind a mile or two from mznanch (spelling)
i just have a tonne of stuff dropped there cause i don't have time to sell it, i still have two vaults to go and about $220,000 in my pocket (i'm level 28)
one of these days i'll make a constant effect health regen ring (if it can be done)
go seek the mud crab you people who like creeper
(besides he talks in a southren accent)
oh, when around that area, DON'T attack any mud crab unless it tries to attack you, you'll waste an unlimited supply of $$$ and it sucks trying to sell $100,000 daiedric dai katannas to creeper. (sword found in dren plantation in tower shack on guy, should be level 15 or really sneaky to take him down) 1-60 attack for sword
hope this helps, i'm going to bed,
steve

I choose to live in nerano manor, in balmora. It is really big plus it is quite easy to own. All you have to do is kill the 1 guy who is inside of it. You get a giant house and a great location all for pretty much notrhing. Well thats where i stay at least.

They have that mod for Morrowind where there's a town built up in the trees. You could always kill someone up there and take their house.
