Hehe, I'm guilty of originally calling the game "Do-Sex" as well :D. I'm not sure when I first heard about Deus Ex, but I can remember the moment when I snapped and wanted the game more than oxygen. There was an online preview about 6 pages long (I don't remember the site... wish I did). It was very detailed and had a ton of screenshots taken from the beginning of the game. That's not much to go on, but does anyone remember such a preview?
Anyways, Deus Ex remains my #1 favorite game of all time. Right behind it is System Shock 2, which I was fairly unexpectant of initially. I valuely remembered hearing about System Shock before, but had never played it. Screenshots weren't all that impressive, but I tried the demo when it came out (don't quite remember why... probably lots of good things I'd read about it), and wow. Both are still such amazing games... I wish we'd see games like them more often. SS2 in 1999 and DX in 2000... and what since? Not much :(.

I'd never heard of it until my boyfriend pointed it out, said it was supposed to be amazing & by the same people who made system shock 2, but less terrifying. That was enough to convince me to try it

When I was in high school, a friend of mine asked me if I'd ever heard of Deus Ex. I said no, I haven't, and he proceeded to tell me a little about it. It was a first-person shooter, he said, but it was also an RPG. That sounded pretty interesting, so he let me borrow it, but unfortunately it ran rather poorly on the system I had at the time. I played through part of Liberty Island and enjoyed it, but it got too choppy for me to play much further.
Some time later, in mid-2002, I think, I was in Best Buy and saw a copy of the Game of the Year edition of Deus Ex for twenty dollars. I remembered the coolness of the game from when I had played it on my older computer, so I picked it up. This time it ran almost perfectly, and I quickly became absorbed in it. It's now one of my favorite games of all time.
And I was looking forward to Deus Ex 2 so much...

the game came with my soundcard. i didn't know what it was, so i got sold it at a used book store. a couple days later, i read what Deus Ex was and i rushed back out to get it. in all, the the original game cost me 10.00 and that was 2 years ago and i play it to this day.

It was first recommended to me by the same guy who introduced me to Unreal and System Shock 2. I didn't actually get it at the time, though, and posted here for some time before finally buying it, along with Thief II, when the UK TTLG meet last year ended up in Hamley's.

I got bored with the games I had. I remember seeing the game on store shelves, but I figured it wouldn't be anything I would be interested in. I rarely read reviews, and relied on friends recomendations (I'm not really a hardcore gamer). Anyway, for some reason I got curious, checked out what the community was saying about it, then bought it. I'm glad I did, because to this day it remains one of my most fascinating gaming experiences.
