Heard about it here at ttlg... or were we still at the gameforum back then?
Anyway. Played the demo (and the mission pack for the demo), was not impressed as it ran with something like 4 fps on my computer back then and it looked not really, uh, pretty. So I uninstalled the demo and forgot about it.
I kept hearing about it in #thief all the time though.
Well. It was Fred who got me addicted in the end when we made this nice trade of a game that amazon only shipped to europe for a GOTY-box of DX. :)
fanks fer getting me in, Fred ;)

I read reviews about Deus Ex, but I didn't buy it right away, as my computer was almost unable to load the game at this time. And I wasn't that interested in this kind of games then.
I bought it a year or so after the release, by chance I would have to say. And I was in love after the few missions. ;) (As I reached Hell's Kitchen)

Our eyes met over a crowded room.
No, really. One day in August 2000 I walked into my local game store and there was this really cool looking box-art and a game I'd never heard of before.
I picked it up, read the box, bought it immediately.
That night I didn't sleep at all, I just played and played and played....
One of the best gaming surprises ever, for me, Deus Ex. Usually I'm sick on the hype long before such a good game appears.
It was just one of those magic gaming encounters ;)

I'd heard good things about the game, but never tried the demo. When I was buying my Audigy, I saw that it came bundled with Deus Ex and Giants : Citizen Kabuto. I was probably looking forward to playing the bundled games more than the soundcard itself. Both were great games, I love them both. I'm thinking of going back through Deus Ex again after seeing the DX2 intro.

A friend told me about it shortly after the first demo was released. I'm quite surprised that I didn't know about the game before. Downloaded the demo and got blown away. Downloaded the demoaddon and played it lots. Then in August (2 months after the US release) it was released here in Sweden, and I went to the store to buy it :) Mind you, I had a P233 with a Voodoo2 at the time ;) :D
I'm thinking about playing it again now, for the 4th time. Before the release of DX2 anyway :)

I downloaded the demo, but didn't like it. My brother had bought the game when it came out later, and kept telling me how interesting it got. He borrowed me his copy, and I started playing, and didn't like it. Think I didn't really understand what kind of game it was, I was expecting a shooter, and I HATED how the sniper rifle behaved. Got to battery park, but it just didn't grab me. But I listened to my big brother and I gave it another try, and actually liked it this time. I fell in love with the game when I reached Maggie Chow's appartment, and it just kept getting better! I fell desperately in love with the game the second run, when I realised how people react differently depending on my actions.

Actually, I was on sshock2.com and David said he was sorry about not updating the page for so long and he said that he was bizzy playing Deus Ex. So I asked my mom to get it for me and she did. I love it :thumb:

Thief forum. Again and again.
A friend of mine played it, too.

Vaguely remember taking in some positive critical information about it in PC Gamer - probably thanks to Kieron Gillen. Went to PC World - May 01 - to buy some other game (I think it was NOLF), decided to buy Deus Ex but was somewhat unconvinced about it. I was expecting a 3rd person RPG due to comments I had heard about its RPG likenesses and a screenshot of a cutscene :erm:
As for the decision to buy it, best one I've made this side of Thief and System Shock 2.

Hello, all!
I received the cd with my ATI Radeon video card.
Thoroughly enjoyed the game and can't wait for DE2!
