Thanks for the links to the city homes mods, Matthew. I've just started the tutorials on Oblivion modding (that's how frustrated I am with the dilapidated Imperial City shack ), so seeing what some other modders have created for homes is inspiring. (I just hope I don't screw things up in the game with my pitiful modding attempts!)
As for my favorite homes, I'm using the Aragorn & Legolas mods, so when it's time for me to crash somewhere it means it's time for my 2 companions to crash as well and my Chorrol house is perfect for that since it has 2 guest rooms. I know that's not really a necessity for them, but it keeps them from wandering off while my character is sleeping. ;) I'm looking forward to the time when I'm proficient enough at modding that I can actually add things to my 'homes' in the game.

By the way, there's a mod called (
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4703) Imperial Furniture that might be useful here. If you use the game editor to delete furniture from a preexisting home, you can then buy furniture with this mod and arrange it any way that you like in-game. It's nice because you can see right away how things look, and rearrange anything that you don't like as often as you want without having to quit out of the game. I find it much easier to set up a house that way than by trying to place things with the editor.
