I'm sure this must be some kind of joke.
However, judging by the rest of the thread it seems that this (at best) loaded and derogatory term is actually quite de rigour in the US. In light of that, carry on I guess.
Some people aren't as educated as what we are paz. They might say "poofs" instead of "gays", or "darkies" instead of the proper term which is "coloureds".
(god it feels pathetic that i have to qualify this but that was a joke for all you fetts out there).

I guess I sometimes lose track up here in my tower of ivory, because it's often awfully cloudy outside :(

To be a little extreme: If someone robs the collective your home or steals your car you get upset and want them punished.
If some jerk engages in internet theft, or Warez, you get upset.
But if someone sneaks into your country, steals education from your children, or children to be, drives up the medical costs to you, increases the need for prisons, and the money to run them, increases the need for public safety personnel, and at the same time decreases the monies available for the fire and police (there are many other things that could be included in this list), you are happy to allow them to stay and live on your largesse.
Go figure.

You missed the point. Any child born in most countries, whether of legal citizens or of non-registered, or non-citizen parents, is automatically a
natural born citizen of the country in which they are born.
In this case "Dong" rings the right bell, although he could have said "dunce". :)

Well then I guess I was owned. Oh well...
back to the discussion at hand.:o

I don't understand what's preventing someone who's in the US illegally from just going through the process of becoming a citizen? Is it because if they show up at the immigration office they'll get deported? Or is it because they don't want to pay taxes?

What the Mexicans need is a fucking revolution. Fix your own fucking country...I'm sure it's worth the effort.
Mexico is a trillion dollar economy with 40% of the population living below the poverty line. This should be the topic of discussion. Start at the source of the problem instead of the end.
It seems like instead of trying to improve the standard of living in Mexico the government just encourages them to leave for the US.

First you have to be 'lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence' which pretty much means you can't just land here from another country and say you want to become a US citizen. You have to apply (in advance) for the right to live here until you meet the requirements for 'naturalization' (I think you then have to live here for about 7years before you're eligible to take all the tests, etc.).
It's not as easy as you seem to think it is. Check out this site:
