If you're into French movies, there's a lot of comedies around. Especially try Jaques Villeray; in some of his movies, you're not quite sure if it'd be better to laugh or to burst in tears. Also, if you can bear a Frenchman running in circles screaming at the top of his lungs for two hours, try Louis de Funès. Personnally, I can't stand his movies, many disagree.

"The Legend Of Old Gregg", is that like a banned episode or what? This show is ace, I've almost finished first season :thumb:.
Oh, the bitter, bitter twist of fate - I can't reply without spoiling!
I'm fairly certain it's not banned. I can only tell you that you never
actually see anything disgusting - it's all about feeling socially uncomfortable...
If you do watch 'Old Gregg' - you will know what 'the big deal' about this episode is by about ten minutes in - at the conclusion of the boat scene.
I should point out that it has probably been built up too much by now - I do not want to ruin any (twisted) comic genius from the house of the Boosh.
(Heh. :ebil: That disclaimer nearly doubles as a clue, if you know your slang.)

One movie I haven't seen mentioned is Strangers with Candy. The movie came out several years after the Comedy Central show went off the air, but it really is fantastic. If I remember correctly it was written by Steven Colbert, so if you're even remotely a fan of Colbert Report you need to check it out. And not to mention it has dozens of cameos from big-name stars. "It's okay you can talk to me, I'm the art teacher! I may be an authority figure, but I have the mind of a child."
Grandma's Boy is another one of my favorites, but this doesn't exactly qualify if you're not looking for childish humor.

One of the last bastions of real comedy---Opie and Anthony, particularly the two hours a day on XM where it gets truly raw and just flat out funny.

No offence to 'blue
Last night I watched a show on ferrets, on ferret owners to be more precise. There was one section where they would dress their ferrets up in fancy costumes and play act with them, similiar to young girls and their dolls. I was absolutely wetting myself!

I agree that panel shows are generally good in the UK, but that's because they tend to get some really quickfire wit people in them (such as Bill Bailey in the Buzzcocks).
"Have I Got News For You" comes to mind, it always gets a laugh out of me.
BBC sitcoms "My Family" and "One Foot In The Grave". Sci Fi comedy "Red Drawf". Channel 4's "Father Ted". I know, I know they're not films, but in case you wanna check them out.
Not recommendations as such, but just for consideration:
Hot Shots and it's sequel "Hot Shots: Part Deux" - the sequel seems funnier
Naked Gun Films
Police Academy Films

I liked it years ago when Angus Deayton hosted it when the Tories were in, it was a good time for political humour, same with Spitting Image. Another panel show, Whose Line Is It Anyway? was fab back in the Clive Anderson days too, though it was a gathering of American and British comics.
