I've come to realize how much I love this town! The architechture of the houses, the small size of it all, the castle - it's all so neat! :D There's even a friendly vampire-guy in one of the houses; he doesn't talk much but he sure knows how to barter! I managed to lure 5000 gold from off that guy ;)
I just love my house too. I've got jewels on the fire place, expensive clothing and a bunch of books (I always read one before going to sleep). A new skeleton's moved into my basement but I don't bother him and in exchange he doesn't bother me.
The only downside with Caledra is getting there... There's all these guars and stuff wandering around. Yikes
Anyway, now I'm going to a'huldrarhfhd (???) to work for the thieves' guild cause I kinda burned my bridges in Balmora... :p

Just FYI, the Caldera trader that has 5000 gold is a scamp, not a vampire; Morrowind vampires are creepier looking, IMHO ;)

ok are the strongholds worth it??
i am up the point of where i have to build my strong hold for house hlaalu.
i am currently living in the former balmora council club... and things are getting
cramped in there.... after robbing the telvanni treasury and visiting a fair few ruins
and caves and tombs... i got too much stuff...
the former bar counter is just covered in expensive weaponery... and i had to
move my chemistry set from the large table to make room for more weaposn..
but anyway... i been thinkin of moving into nerano manor... i have no moral dilemma
taunting anyone into their doom... but if i am building this stronghold and most likely
paying for parts of it (although i am extremely intersted in seeing if i can pickpocket
the deed like some of you did) i may as well use it...
so how does it compare in size to the manor??
(i coulda just asked that in the second sentence... but i prefer the beat-around-the-
bush-longwinded way :p )

Hrm.. if memory serves, the ground floor of the Hlaalu stronghold's 1st building is about the same width and 3/4 the length of the Balmoran Morag Tong 1st floor; the upstairs is decidedly tiny though. The other buildings (that get created for the Hlaalu that are part of "your" retinue) I don't remember much about except that the gatehouse is, if anything, even tinier than your bedroom.
On the other hand, you have to build it if you want to advance, so why not do so and then make the call?

Hey burt, if you like Creepers house so much, y dont you try moving into the goveners hall(or house) i did. Its much bigger, and looks good. in creepers house, i made it kinda like my warehouse. But in the governers hall, i made it will lots of blue candles and glass lanterns. But i didnt kill anyone inside. Im a mage so i used command and kicked them out. UNlike Gohrak I killed em all. GL Burt, but check it out. Im sure you will like it.
