Come to think of it , (Crazy brainstorming)
it would've been great if the fishing situation was more like this. Lots of animations.
You see a fish in the water, you aim your fishing pole in its direction, you throw and if your aim is good you catch it and it struggles to escape but without any trouble you win. Now in big lakes there should be bigger fish, different kind of fish, so you could combine small fish with your fishing pole to make a bait to catch the big fish. Also bigger fish should be more shy so that you had to sneak up on them to avoid scaring them off. Ofcourse selling fish afterwards would be great and big fish=more gold. :)
Also fish that you hold on to for some time without cooking, should go bad and smelly, so that if you see a rat and throw the fish in its direction, the rat would become sick from eating the fish and rapidly loose health and die.:ebil:

What is it and what does it mean? Isn't that the icon that indicates that you've reached a higher experience level; and that you've got some skillpoints to distribute?
BTW great fishing ideas,
*addink brainstorming along:maybe introduce some rare, scary looking, fish aswell (higher value)... or some of the fish are poisonous by nature.... or maybe a rare fish is a trigger for a subquest when you offer it to someone... or one of 'em has a magic ring inside...:D
or the poisonous fish 'turns' the rat that eats it... so it'll attack its peers.:ebil:

- reddish cross : I think addlink is right, it's the level-up indicator.
- fishes : what about piranhas ? :ebil:

OK, addink and xman. Your help was much appreciated, I had no idea myself so thanks for responding so quickly. :)
This game is great!:D

The extending the fishing posibilities made me think of other foodstuffs...
Plants.
In UW there was this seed 'silver-something... ('have to look it up)'
when placed on the ground a small tree grew out of it... (this tree had magical powers, but thats not what I had in mind for ARX. Although magical trees are nice too)
what I'd like to see in ARX are seeds which you can plant in soil for either herbs and/or edible produce. It would be REALLY nice if you could actually see the plant slowly grow (hey, it's magical world, it could happen!)...
also the size of the crop could vary, depending on the fertility of the soil you chose...
and, ofcourse, a pile of seeds would be much easier to carry...

Just FYI, it was the Silver Sapling :)

fresh fish => cook => still fresh
it's true that it would be more appropriate to call it raw fish and then cooked fish (or raw fresh fish, cooked fresh fish and then only cooked fish...) ; as well as the word 'ancient' or 'forgotten' would fit better in place of the word 'foreign' in the initial dialog with your cellmate when he call you Am Shaegar for the first time (and as he was telling you the meaning of this name in a 'foreign tongue'

Originally posted by crazy The whole fishing feature is cool, I really enjoy fishing in general, but it would've been awfully nice to have fish visually swimming in the water so that you had something to aim for with your fishing pole.thus it wouldn't be possible to catch enough fish for your always-starved-hero...

Originally posted by crazy Some cute animation of the actual fishing pole with rope, a struggling fish at the other end as you catch one, would've been dead cool. I hope they'll put it in a patch or something. (They probably don't have time to implement it in the upcoming release of the game.) I agree :) ...

rats are not that silly ... and more resistant than you may think...

If you are still interested in the original topic...
The big arrow on the right side of the inventory is for the backpack. Once you get the backpack, your inventory doubles, and you can access it through that arrow.
Oh yes, I know this for sure. If you are really curious...
The backpack is in the unaccesible, yet almost complete Level 2...
Cheers, this game rocks.
