When come back, bring pie.... - by Strangeblue

I promised the kiddos I'd make waffles this morning, which is a fairly easy endeavor if you have Bisquick or some other pre-made mix. Otherwise, you find yourself standing over the sink with a carton of eggs asking things like, "Is baking power the same thing as baking soda, and if so, why?" or, "Exactly how stiff is stiff when you're talking about egg whites?" and "why even use the word 'stiff' to describe their consistency when there's no possible way the egg whites will ever become by anyone's definition 'stiff' (what's wrong with 'frothy'?)"?.
Either way, I made flat, chewy waffles that my kids ate while I snuck some yogurt and an apple. Always check for Bisquick.

Nah, she's not too busy to post a recipe. She IS busy, AND she takes too much time posting on her own forum. I think she just thinks I'm weird (I can't argue with that). She's written out full pages on her views on hunting, capital punishment, and writing. She IS behind schedule on getting the latest draft for book two of the Soldier's Son Trilogy, the first being Shaman's Crossing, by the way.
I understood I was asking too much when I asked if there was more to the "magic wheel" concept she used for the Tawny Man Trilogy. I was hoping it wouldn't hurt to ask.
But ginger cakes?
Strangeblue, there was a passage in Royal Assassin where Nighteyes asks Fitz to bring ginger cakes and Fitz brings gingerbread instead, and Nighteyes eats it without a reaction either way.:thumb: Heh heh.

Seriously, Robin Hobb is the best you can do for a name-drop? I wouldn't trust that woman to scrawl the alphabet for me unless I was keen to see how it looks in Trite, let alone a recipe for something I was ultimately going to be putting in my mouth.
There are hundreds of very easy recipes for traditional ginger cakes easily accessed through Google. Find one you like.

You people shut the hell up. They were talking a three way whip cream party before you ruined it with talk of food and books. I want the recipies for the things they put in thier mouths.
I can't believe GBM and I agree on something. Because noid suggested it I tried the series. Not nearly enough thrusting of swords into tender flesh.

I think this is because you suck at the cooking of proper foods. Frankly, you don't even need to do the whole "seperate the egg and beat 'til stiff and sore" part, I find that if I do it my waffles come out too dry.

Have you been preserved in time since your last foray on TTLG?

Mmmm... whipping cream... doesn't hurt my teeth like very sugary stuff does.
