Er, care to back that up at all... or are you just being you? I began posting here in joke form then was a bit disgusted to see the rationale on display here. Personally, I think there's a whole factor that's not being taken into consideration here which is that not every sexual inclination is naturally occurring - that is, that sexual fetishes can be derived from either psychological or emotional pressures and also perhaps the result of society.

My question is: if paedophilia is acceptable by a sexual preference standard, where does it stop? I guess someone somewhere has already decided that beastiality is cool. Are you going to tell me that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crush_fetish) Crush fetishists don't have a choice? Really? You honestly believe that isn't just the product of a society with too much time and access to resources on its hands? You believe a guy is born with either a predisposition to the male or female sex, of reasonable or unreasonable age, or of little furry things getting stomped? I mean, furries fall under this too - are you guys honestly going to legitimise a sexual preference that <strike>you've all</strike> many of you have been disgusted by and have furiously mocked (OB you know what I'm talking about here)?

Don't misread this as OMG THE WEIRD SEX IS EVIL, because I'm not that fucking simple. I'm saying that I think there are certain perversions (yeah, that's right I said it) that are more of a product of society or a particularly twisted individual rather than the sexual preference status quo.

Well let's get this shit started. Nobody on either side of the pedophilia divide has really nailed it so I'm going to TELL IT LIKE IT IS. But let's pretend Fingernail didn't actually bring homosexuality into the equation as that's the most ridiculously irrelevent tangent imaginable and he should have his pretty guitar-picking fingers broken as punishment, even if his intentions were good.

So let's address this bit by bit: in order for Doyle to be a genuine pedophile the 14 year old girl would have to not have gone through puberty yet. Being attracted to kids is called pedophilia. Being attracted to teenage girls is called being a straight male.

Teenagers in general are gorgeous, regardless of sex. They've got a youthful version of an adult's body without the wrinkles, extra fat, and general wear and tear that accumulate with age. Dia can stick her head in the sand all she wants but the fact remains that we are programmed to find these post-pubescent teens sexually desirable. Does that make us pedophiles? Of course not--a curvy fifteen year old is hot not because she's got the body of a kid but because she's got the body of a woman.

Does that mean that older guys would be be morally free to pursue these teens if only that pesky age of consent law were suspended? Of course not. While we may be wired to enjoy the view, the concept of actually romancing a teenage girl is fucking creepy. Their bodies may be nice but all you need to do is spend ten seconds talking to one to realize that teens are, in fact, still kids. Teens are still developing mentally, and sneaking into their pants by pretending to give a shit about MySpace and Hawthorne Heights is just predatory and repugnant.

As for genuine pedophilia, I'm not comfortable with the attempt in this thread to to trivialize it as harmless unless acted upon. While people wired that way shouldn't be immediately viewed as monsters, nor should their sexual tastes be treated as anything other than wrong. Pedophiles have a condition, if you will, that can turn into a very real problem if they aren't on their guard against it. I'm not saying that every pedophile is a walking bomb, of course--they simply need to know that they have to keep the match as far away from the fuse as possible.

One other minor thing to note is there are faw fewer ways to privately indulge a kink like pedophilia harmlessly. While Shayde can get double stuffed action while victimizing nobody, kiddie porn is a different matter entirely.

I don't think pedophiles are monsters, but they're still pretty messed up. One of my all-time favorite writers, Peter Sotos, was the first man in America to be arrested for the possession of child pornography, back in 1984 or 1985. He's never, to my knowledge, actually molested anyone, but he sure writes about doing it a lot. At least he freely admits he's a pervert though... unlike NAMBLA freaks who try to pass themselves off as regular joes and see themselves as "normal".
