The real question is: do paedophiles have a choice, and if not, can we blame them for being born that way?

I now retire from this discussion, wondering what tomorrow will bring!

Std: rape is an act of violence -
not sex. It's been proven time and again that rape is NOT a sexual act!
I was disputing BR's statement,
Quote:
sexual arousement of an adult male to teenage girls is in essence natural, under condition that he's also sexually attracted to adult females (around his age) as well.
I guess I should have asked about the age differences involved, because, yes, I think that matters. If the guy is in his 20's (or older) and is still attracted to 14yr. old females, then yeah, most adults think that's a little unnatural to say the least. Being attracted to women your own age has nothing to do with the fact that you still find 'underdeveloped' 14 yr. olds sexually arousing. Unless, of course, the 14 year old girl looks like she's 18 or 19 yrs. of age (and there are some that do, granted) then that's a whole nother issue. We could split hairs here indefinitely.
There seems to be some controversy regarding the definitions of pedophilia (American English spelling, btw) and ephebophilia.

We're not discussing the ins and outs of rape, here.

Well, I don't remember mentioning what kind of act it was at all -- but while you mention it... how in the heck is putting your cha-cha into a girl's hoo-hah-dilly, whether it's within or without her consent,
not sexual??

How punny!
And this thread was a lot better before you guys started playing the Kiddy Sex Advocates.
And I really must retire!

Paz with the ninja post, bah.
EDIT: to Scots: Either read the points properly, or go to bed.
It's a fundamental matter of how you view sexual orientation. Not to condone, but also not to blame or look down upon those born different from yourself.
Because if you see paedophilia as immoral, then why not homosexuality as well?
Not the act (NO ONE HERE IS CONDONING RAPING CHILDREN), the actual attraction. To suggest that anyone is excusing violence or sexual behaviour towards children OF ANY AGE, is a completely indefensible position - no one is excusing, explaining or condoning that behaviour. We're discussing the attraction, not the action.
