Why? Adult males are biologically programmed to be attracted to young, attractive females of child-bearing age. It's actually modern (and especially western) social convention that makes it illegal to have a sexual relationship with a woman/girl until she's 16+. In the past girls were whisked off to marriage and children from ages as young as 12, if they were physically ready.

But like Monbee says, there's a world of difference between being attracted to there-or-thereabouts physically mature 15 year old and a child of 7.

Look, it's quite simple:

There's nothing "wrong" with anyone who is a paedophile, much as there is nothing "wrong" with a homosexual or heterosexual, with a sadomasochist or whatever. You could argue differently, and that homosexuals and paedophiles can be "cured", but whatever. It's not criminal. Just as it wasn't criminal to be homosexual in the 1950s. It was criminal to engage in homosexual activity!

There is something wrong (and illegal) with raping children (or anyone), or engaging in sexual activity with those below the age at which our society has deemed legal (although this does vary worldwide, obviously). And therefore it's also wrong to attempt this, or view images of others doing it.

This distinction is not too difficult to grasp, surely?

The same could be said for necrophiles; I don't care what goes on in their mind, just stay away from the local cemetary.

You're right, and I should have qualified it a bit. I was thinking more of people who are only sexually attracted to underage persons, not of sexual impulses in general.
