Whats up with the Unatco troops. - by Cobra

This might be a REALLY stupid question, but has anyone ever noticed how the unatco troops have black eyes, with (presumably) white pupils?
Does the game ever suggest why this is, or am I just missing something patently obvious?

It's probably got to do with the modelling and rendering of the troops - the only official mention of physical attributes have to do with MIB's and the various aliens and such ...

Well, for a start, the eyes are only about 8-10 pixels wide on the source texture, so not a lot of scope for detail. So possibly there wasn't enough room for decent eye design.
Alternatively/additionally: you mostly meet UNATCO troops outside, in the dark, frequently when you're using your light aug, so it could be a stylized attemp at 'eyeshine' style light reflection.
But no, UNATCO troops are not supposed to be augmented in any way. MIBs, on the other hand...

I just assumed that they had a very small amount of mechanical augmentation done. I mean, look at the lower part of their faces. That seems attached, not just part of the helmet. Ever see one of em talk? (But then, it brings up the question: "How do they eat?") Oh, and while we're at it, why are they all identical? :P

They've actually got a working mouth underneath that: the facemask is an overlay. If you apply a masked texture to the facemask, the helmet, and the helmet sides, you get a perfectly normal head.
Like the janitors, for example, which use exactly the same mesh. :D

Well, NSF and MJ12 troopers have fancy looking visors, which may be used for nightvision and such. Maybe UNATCO troopers simply use special contacts instead?
