Whats the big deal with Bronies and MyLittlePony ? It sucks as hell - by BruderMurus

It's like I rejoined just for this thread
Sorry to hear you don't like the show - as a form of children's entertainment it's not exactly going to be a Philosophy PhD course, but the lessons taught in it, while perhaps trite for adults, are I think important for children to learn. The fact that it features female characters in the vast majority of the authority positions and non-stereotypically 'girly' roles also, I feel, gives young girls an example that they don't necessarily have to fit into narrow definitions of what they have to like, work at etc. I would therefore take issue with the assertion that the setting is a 'steriotypical girly princessworld'.
I note that the only example of a plot you give is a mangled version of the very first episode; the season openers and closers tend to be more action-oriented and 'spectacular' than the norm. Other episodes deal with issues of bullying, sibling relations, dealing with the expectations of yourself and others etc etc.
Add to that some genuinely decent writing, songs, in-jokes and cameos and it results in what I consider to be a very watchable show.
Also thanks for the porn shot, can I post my clop pics now please mods

Is that official brazzers my little pony porno?
Matthew on 8/6/2016 at 15:25
Entirely possible; I didn't watch Gravity Falls so I can't comment.
And Viv: sadly not, all the good porno (we call it 'clop', dontchaknow) is bootleg

I have to confess that I and my two boys (11 and 14) have grown into Bronies the last year or so. The reason is simple; we've been so stressed and surrounded by so much ugliness, conflict, and uncertainty that Equestria has provided an escape for it. The message of simple kindness, forgiveness, friendship, and selflessness has gone a long way toward keeping me from succumbing to bitterness and impatience during a difficult time. It's just that simple.
Related to that, I think its message has helped curb some of the hostility and resentment that was developing in our psyche over my medical situation. The show has become a bit if an anchor for us in a wild storm.

Funnily enough, fett, I was first introduced to it when my father was going through the terminal stages of his cancer battle, and I really do think that it helped me get through that and the aftermath as well.

All I know is that when I was a kid I liked MLP. I had like 15 of them, the little dragon, the castle, & everything. Other kids if they ever found out called me a gaywad and I gave seriously the least shit ever what they thought. It's a philosophy that's been good to me ever since.
Edit. I mean there are grown men that go gaga over another man wearing tights, a cape, mask, and a bat or a spider suit & that's somehow less weirdo than liking ponies & friendship? I don't think so.
Edit2: I don't think I'd call myself a bronie though. I still have affection for the show, but like in the same way I have affection for Duck Tales and most everything else from the golden age of Saturday Morning cartoons.

Yeh I was a bit anti-brony for a while there back when it was a thing, but then I actually watched some of the shows.

The greatest irony is that, in real life, ponies are quite mean.
