What’s the Best Cheap Software to Boost Gaming Performance on Windows? - by Lucianopatrick

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some honest advice and personal recommendations. I’m running a mid-range Windows PC that handles most games decently, but lately I’ve noticed some lag and frame drops, especially with newer titles or when I have multiple things running in the background.
I’m not in a position to upgrade my hardware right now, so I’m hoping to improve performance through software tweaks. I’ve seen tools like Razer Cortex, Game Booster, and others being advertised, but I’m not sure which ones actually work and which are just bloatware.
Has anyone here had real success using cheap or free software to boost FPS, clean up background processes, or optimize system performance for gaming? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you. Bonus points if it’s beginner-friendly and doesn’t come with annoying ads or hidden costs.
Also, if anyone uses lesser-known tools that aren't super mainstream but still do a good job, I’m open to discovering new options.
Thanks in advance!
