oh yeah, of course. It's wieght that determines armor rating. Once I switched a daedric piece of armor to weight 1, and it turned into light armor... forgot about that =)

Yeah, at one time, I had Dragonscale cuirass, helm, boots, and tower shield. It looks very cool, and works well for medium armor early in the game. I believe I bought most of the pieces from various traders. I hung onto it until I ran afoul of an Orc bandit who had a complete suit of Orcish armor. And yes, the final armor rating definitely depends on your skill. My current rating is 48 with the Orcish, and a Dreugh cuirass only rated 49 due to my lower heavy armor skill.

Indoril is Medium Armor. However there is a glitch that can sometimes turn it into heavy in save games.
Here are the actual values...
Heavy: Deadric - 80
Medium: Indoril - 45
Light: Glass - 50
Part of my balancing mod moves deadric and glass down by 10 to 70 and 40 respectively, and moves Indoril up by 5 to 50 to fit into the niche of 'best' Medium armor (As well as improving Orcish and reducing Ebony, among other things).
Keep in mind that these values are modified in-game by your armor skill, and it is the modified values that you see.

Hey Exodus_Dk, I'm guessing you never checked the stats on a Daedric War axe, or a Daedric War Hammer, huh? I would say Blunt weapons are the "best" weapon choice

I would say Blunt weapons are the "best" weapon choice Yeah - for plain damage perhaps they outrank the longblades... But... most artifact weapons in the game(ofcourse not ALL but most) are Longblades - especially the great ones... Furthermore the axe and warhammer are really heavy and twohanders - no shield there :( I know you can still get armor bonuses and enchantment bonusses - but still no blocking.
A daedric dai-katana can hold 21 enchantment points - a katana 18... I don't know what the axe and hammer can hold - plz. list them just for comparison.
But a daedric dai-katana is - anyway you put it - around 30 lbs. lighter than the other two.
However - I don't think that completing the game is going to be easier or harder wether you choose one weapon type or the other.

for some peopel indoril is heavy and for some it is medium, it makes the best sense as medium armor for 2 reasons:
1) as for higher level armor, there are only 3 pieces in the set that weigh over 9 units of weight, doesnt sound like heavy (whereas the best heavy -deadric- has nothing that wieghs below 15 units weight)
2) as for higher level armor, the price is about 1/10 of deadric and you get over half the base armor rating.......which to me implies that it is a different class and it is only a little better than dreugh but for the approx the same price
I havent read any official material from bethesda about it, and if you want to call indoril being medium armor a bug then so be it, but IT IS STILL THE BEST MEDIUM ARMOR IN THE GAME

Heck, I used Short Swords in my first game, and I'm using Spears for my second :) I just happened to take a look at them... but since you wanted to know, and I have the editor open, here's the stats:
The editor values for Enchantment Look like they have an extra zero, so Daedric Dai-Katana is 210 for comparison
Daedric Battle Axe: Chop 1-80, Slash 1-60 Thrust 1-8
Weight 90 (ouch)
Enchantment "Value" 165 (or 16.5 slots)
Daedric War Hammer: Chop 1-70 Slash 1-60 Thrust 1-4
Weight 96
Enchantment "Value" 165 again

if you want to use a 2-hander and still not get hit all the time then all you have to do is this....
get some exquisite appareal (2 rings, shirt, pants/skirt, shoes, robe, ammy) and enchant them all constant effect shield, i forget how high of shield you can actually get doing that but it is really bad ass cause then you have less than 150 with weapon/clothing and you hardly ever get hit.......granted you have to be high enough level to do this that it doesnt really matter at that point:ebil:
