My woodelf has so many keys now that they are cluttering up her inventory, badly. It's no fun to wait 5 seconds each time I open the inventory. It's no fun to scroll past all the keys when I want to drop my newly stolen loot into my theft-chest.
I'm using a keychain-mod, but during interaction with containers, all the keys are cluttering up the inventory anyway.
I don't know what all these keys are for anymore, anyway. And I haven't even been picking keys out of NPC pockets. It's all the result of "a rusty key here, a small key there, a key to my house, and a funny shaped key on top, a key for a sigil room, a key from some dead body, a key from some Ayleid ruin, yet another key you've never used, Eugal Belette's key, ... " :grr:
... will I get myself into trouble when I just drop all of them into some wardrobe? There's one container in my favourite house in Bruma which hasn't an assigned role yet. But maybe I'd just lock myself out of my own houses when I drop all the keys into this container. "This door needs a key and you dropped the key on the other side of this door, you idiot", lol?
How do you people manage your throng of keys??

Unfortunately, no.
It's another unnatural thing about Oblivion that gets on my nerves - if you are in a position when NPC cannot see you, you can throw anything out of your inventory which will create noise, but which will not uncover your hide-out and will leave NPC in absolute ignorance and peace.
Anyway, why bother with the keys? They do not weigh anything, do they?

I guess the only way around it would be to be very disciplined in dropping keys once the quest is over, but it would be so difficult to identify some of the ones with fairly generic names that I don't think I'd like to risk it.

Find a safe place to put them and deposit all the keys which you are fairly sure you won't be needing any time soon. Keys like the sigil key which open doors though a closed oblivion gate are useless, the same goes for keys that were for completed quests. If you're plaing with the latest OOO then you will get guild storage chests which allow safe keeping for any items. The bank of Cyrodill mod also gives a deposit chest available in the bank in the market district for 500 gold. If you're also playing with the Cyrodill transportation mod then you will get mark/recall and can mark a spot where you keep all your stuff (keys, alchemical equipment/ingredients, soul gems, potions etc.) and then just cast recall when you need some of it.
On a side note, your favourite house in Bruma?!? Bruma is a shit'ole IMO, especially with all those pesky frost titans in OOO. Move to Cheydinhal or something.
Another thing, does any one know what that 'old rusty key' in the Leyawin mages guild opens?

My character can not carry much so I use the storage areas in the houses I buy a LOT.

I tend to use Frostcrag Spire myself. ;)

Do the plants ever grow up again there? I only picked them once till I had to start from the very begining :( Actually, with this mod I am not even sure if I need the rest of homes. Thinking on selling them...

I think the only plant that regrows there is the Nirnroot.
One of only 2 places it does so.

No, no. There is the whole bunch of daedric plants, wood flowers and mashrooms, etc. I was curious if they grow up after you pick them, like anywhere else.

I thought you meant the alchemy garden.
