Yes, I know, I'm a disgrace to computer scientists. For some reason, I just end up renting something else every time I go to the video store.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this news. The description of the teaser sounds pretty enticing, the "TR2N" leet-speak title notwithstanding.
It seems Disney has backed off on their plans for a remake, which would surely have been total shit. Now that it's a sequel, at least there's a chance it won't completely suck.

I almost want to reinstall Tron 2.0 right now.
It's such a tragically underrated gem of a game, that was almost totally ignored by the public. Of course, it doesn't help when the publisher quickly abandons it and leaves it to a fan (me, as it turned out) to almost single-handedly provide customer support. Because the people in charge of BVG/DI, are scumbags.

Tron 2.0 is awesome.....wasn't it also the only game disney made that had a teen rating? LOLZ. Anyway that game is the shit and the movie is even better....lets hope they don't cheapen the image.

A friend of mine scored a link to shakey cam footage of the TR2N teaser.

The quality is kind of crap, but it's all we've got for now. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney swoops in and kills the video soon.
I've also gathered all the news tidbits I could find about the sequel (
http://tronfaq.blogspot.com/2008/07/tron-2-sequel-footage-shown-at-2008-san.html) and posted them on my blog, if anyone is interested.
Please 'scuse the site's appearance at the moment. The lack of a banner image, etc. is temporary. It normally looks quite nice. The site's been fixed.

I think so. It's also probably one of the only GOOD games that ever came out of Disney, too.

Hey Redrain, what's the difference between the unofficial and official patches? They both have the same version number. Do I install both patches or is the unofficial one cummulative?
Also if you don't mind me asking, is the new version of the Killer App mod still be worked on? The (
http://www.moddb.com/mods/killer-app) Moddb page hasn't been updated in awhile.
Thanks in advance.

When the last official patch was first released, it would only work on Windows XP in an artificial attempt at forcing people to upgrade from 98/Me/2000. So an unofficial patch was made, to allow any version of Windows to update the game.
Both are cumulative, and both are compatible with each other when playing multiplayer. But the unofficial patch has some nice advantages, including No-CD right from the start. No crack required.
So you can choose either one, and that's all you need. I'd recommend the unofficial one, though. Tron 2.0 works on Vista, by the way. I've got it running on Vista 64-bit SP1.

It's still being worked on, but progress has been slow. Basically, the new version is suffering from feature creep. (For instance, I'm trying to integrate proper widescreen support in the next version. I've had some success, but more work needs to be done.) I'm guessing it probably won't be released until some time in September, at this point.

That game could have been so much more given enough attention, eg I always wanted to try the multiplayer mode but never got around to it because of the poor support. I'm glad to find someone who puts time and work into it. No surprise I'd find that person here. :)

Thanks for the reply, redrain! :thumb:
Has there been any word on the original film coming to Blu-ray?

There hasn't been a peep out of Disney about a Blu-ray version of TRON, so far. I guess with the HD format wars over now, the chances of it being released have improved a bit. (Though Disney's preferred format was always Blu-ray, from the beginning.)
Something tells me they'll drag out the release until shortly before the sequel, though.

Thanks. The work you've done over at Strangebedfellows is excellent, too.
You guys also might want to check out the FM for Tron 2.0, that I had a small part in.

Heh, well . . . I agree that members here generally have a good eye for game titles that tend to be underappreciated jewels, and those same members often make important contributions. (SHTUP, Thief Enhancement pack, T2X, just for starters.)
Though I guess the Thief series could hardly be described as "underappreciated", judging by the enthusiasm shown here. :D
