I caught this last night as there was a slow evening with nothing planned. Pretty uninspired, I must say. The script wasn't at all bad but the acting was shockingly (and surprisingly) horrible across the board.
Norton phoned it in, despite supposedly being so involved in the process (including adding to the script). Liv is a pretty walking rack with no real character to speak of, except "damsell in distress", but Connelly did it all better. Roth's scene-chewing was out of place as was Hurt's General Ross, no-one really seemed involved in this movie. It very much had the feeling that they showed up, read their lines in costume and walked off the camera and left, not caring one iota about the movie.
As a result, lines that could've been funny fell flat, scenes that should've been charged with tension, lost love, ... any emotion were just empty, and all the references or cameos in the world can't help a movie when you feel like you're sitting watching a collection of filmed scenes.
Oh, and the suggestion that scenes between Norton and Tyler had chemistry? Please, they were as sexually charged as assembling a piece of DIY furniture from Ikea.
Pretty disappointing remake/reboot/whatever the fuck, and hello, the movie ended practically like it started - Ross/Military still after Hulk, Betty on her own again, and Banner hiding/running except now he smiles when he Hulks out. Weak.
Ultimately I think this did nothing for the Hulk character or franchise that wasn't done much better (or just as bad) by Ang Lee's version.

So pretty hot then? Hey, if you're doing it right...
In other news - I'm not surprised at your take Scots. I suspect, given previous correlations (much to your horror, I'm sure) I'll concur. Another one I shall not be seeing at the cinema.

My gf hates me for taking her to this. :(
I like Edward Norton but his performance was meh. Tim Roth did a shitty job and the ABOMBINATION was lame. The CGI sucked and people though it was amazing. Were they buzzed when they saw the movie?
The fight scenes looked unpredictable and unrealistic. Like they were trying to copy the big fight scenes from Transformers, but it was an epic fail for me. I felt no suspence and was rolling my eyes in the theatre. I would have dozed off if it weren't for my bucket of Dr. Pepper.
The worst part of the movie was the scene with Hulk and Liv Tyler in the cave cheesy and stupid. God it sucked, I wanted to leave the place right there.
Maybe I'm becoming more cynical. Iron Man was leaps and bounds better than this bucket of buttholes. I'm convinced the imdb was was loaded with paid reviews from the studio to jack the rating up before it plummets as the real reviews come in.
And my gf was not impressed. Worse. Which is why Im totally thumbing down this film. GAAGHHHHH!
Also a waste of otherwise well applied time for "other" activities that are few and far between..FAIL

[nitpick]
Surely unpredictable is good. It's predictable that you should dislike.
And you are intimating that Transformers had good fight scenes. It didn't.

Yes it did.

Get used to it. I believe this is the Hulk you'll be seeing crossing over into any of the upcoming Marvel movies.
I enjoyed it and think Marvel is 2 for 2 this summer. Iggles got it right.

iggles can burn in hell!
