Am I the only person who would probably enjoy a film done in the style of the TV show, instead of this uber-CGI'd/generic-hollywood-action-flick crap?

I don't get it.
blahblahblahblahblahx25^3... WHY
it's pretty simple dude...supply and demand, if they're confident they can make money off of it why the hell not? it's much safer than risking investing in a sequal or a new movie altogether and frankly I dig the idea and will most likely go to see this movie. can't wait!

I'm with you - why even bother putting real actors into the film when all the parts with The Hulk just look completely unrealistic and cartoonlike?

Glad to see that people don't actually hate the Ang Lee Hulk around here. I quite liked its treatment of the origin story but the use of comic book panels for certain scenes were more than a bit naff. The shots within shots and especially Josh Lucas' demise were at odds with the serious tone of the film. All the actors were great though with the exception of Nick Nolte whose overacting at the end was laughable.
I think Norton will be fine in the role but the film itself? I don't know but I'll probably end up seeing it anyway.

Oh henke, no. Lou Ferigno as the Hulk is awesome.
My brother just got back from a body building show and Lou was there signing posters of himself as the Hulk. Now my nephew has a signed poster of the Hulk hanging in his room. It's pretty cool.

I just got back from watching this. I don't think I could mistake Norton's Banner for a scientist if I tried. This incarnation of his CGI alter ego isn't such a huge improvement over Ang Lee's, either.
Provided that Eric Bana is a rather awkward choice for Banner, I thought there was nothing wrong with the rest of the cast from the previous movie, especially in comparison to Tyler's and Hurt's Betty and General Ross. Tim Roth is a poor choice for a military ace character, as well, although there isn't any major flaw with his alter ego, "The Abomination."
To sum it up, I walked out feeling that it would've turned out better if they left the original cast alone, and instead focused on refining the characters. That's coming from a movie-goer's perspective and not a fan of the original comic series.

I'm hopefully going to prove myself right with a similar view on Tuesday.

I just saw it tonight, and despite whats going around, I didn't dislike it. I don't really know squat about the story really, but all in all I thought they did an alright job, as well as you can do with a pg-13 comic book movie. Not quite as good as iron man but it looked better than the last hulk (but I didn't see that one).
I didn't really have a problem with the CGI stuff, I don't know if it was really sub-par or anything, seemed to work well enough but they didn't go totally overboard.

I found this cast to be significantly better than in HULK. Liv Tyler and Ed Norton have actual chemistry, as opposed to Bana and Connelly who didn't play like they had any romantic history at all (for all of Connelly's Betty's talk of Bruce always being cold and distant, she was just as cold and detached from him for almost the entire running time. And Tyler has this sort of luminous quality that works better for me as a romantic interest, as opposed to someone I just want to have lots and lots and lots of sex with), and Hurt is more believable and less overtly insane as General Ross than Sam Elliot was.
Overall, I liked this one quite a bit. I look at the '03 Hulk as the film equivalent of an Alan Moore one shot: It's an excellent exploration of the psyche of the character of the Hulk, and is laid out in an extremely fascinating manner visually, but narratively it's not much of a foundation for further adventures. The Incredible Hulk is the regular monthly Hulk title: Banner runs from military, hulks out, smashes military, runs away, repeat, Ross eventually rolls out something that'll take the Hulk down for good, it goes horribly wrong, Hulk smashes new weapon/monster/whatever, runs away again. It's a formula, but it's a formula that works perfectly for a summer tent pole action movie. And this is a lean, fast, (dare I say incredible?) and smashing summer action movie.
That said, I really want to see Ed Norton's cut of the film, since Marvel apparently made them cut about 70 minutes of material and reduced it from a more character oriented action drama to a fairly straight up action film.

Norton getting angry is about as nerve-wrecking as a visit to the hairdressers.
That's kind of the point.
