err.. this is ass backwards. I had noticed that a lot of the people who really liked me (90+ likeability) weren't giving me very good prices, even guild members, i started comparing prices of people with high likeability to those with low and the lower likeability had better prices! wtf? ok, maybe they just offer better prices all around i thought. so i walked up to someone with 72 likeability and checked what he offered on a robe... 344, i then proceeded to admire him to 96... he offered 227 for it afterwards, WTF!? the more they like you the more they try to screw you in barter? whats going on, this seems way backwards and messed up to me

Not a clue =D Only thing would be if you did some sort of quest between the bribing, but it doesn't sound like you did.

nope. auto saved, checked price, admired, checked price it droped. this is so ass backwards its insulting. anyone know wtf the deal is with this? really pisses me off that i wasted skills on speechcraft and mercantile (major/minor) and worked on getting personality to 80 and it seems to actually HURT me... stupid friggin game

It usually doesn't do that. Try other merchants to see if it's repeated.

Though the initial offer is lower, the better disposition will let you haggle a better price in the end. At least it seems that way in my limited tests. Pretty unintutive, though, like a lot of the MW economy.

I noticed this too, but it's only with the selling of items.
And no way are you going to get an initial offer of 227 up higher than 344 through haggling (could be wrong, but I think it's a bit much even with maxed mercantile).
The items you buy should be cheaper though, so maybe this is the game's way of cheating, so that you don't buy low and immediately sell back high? Pretty screwed up, but it's the only logical thing I could think of.

feh this has to be a bug because even with mercantile the pricediffernce after asking for more is barely anything over what it would have been with average mercantile and the person disliking you. stupid stupid stupid.

Who needs money anyway? I mean, Creeper can be your sugardaddy when you need to scrounge up some enchantingmoney, otherwise I hope we're all independently wealthy.

This has been reported as a bug on the official lists...apparently the Mercantile skill works in reverse. Hope that they release the PC patch along with the XBox release this week. :)

For all those who shame us Xbox users, this bug has been patched in the 'box version... I've played and played and yet to find a nasty bug!
Congrats (knock on wood) to Bethesda... game performance has justified the loooong delays, so far...!
Anyway, bit off track but had to put my two cents in...!
