What the hell is this show doing to people? I've watched maybe half of an episode and it was boring as crap. I couldn't even tell you which network airs it, although I do hope its Fox (everyone cries all the time about Fox News so it would be very funny to me if they had a show everyone was bat shit crazy over).
What the heck is the show even about? It seemed like a more serious version of Giligan's Island with an extra obese guy. (Obese people dont exist on deserted islands)

Oh but you see there's a very interesting explanation for that, it turns out that

That's true, he should have been eaten as the first.

One of the big immersion breakers for me with Lost was their grooming. Their trendy haircuts always remain neat and static; and their designer stubble never grows out.
Lost is the Half-Life 2 of television really, that's all that needs to said on the matter really.

The show is certainly quite polarizing - when I watch it I become fanatical and addicted, but I end up annoyed each time an episode finishes. It's positives are that I can't quite liken it to any other show- many many hour long episodes following a single mutating, gargantuan, and sometimes contrived plot arc. Sometimes the allegorical posturing gets on my nerves- sometimes the whole goddamned show gets on my nerves, but I certainly think it's a welcomed variation to sitcom/ROGUE-PROFESSIONALS-drama retinue that seems to be par for the course.
Edit: It is on NBC, and like anything worth spending time on, you need to watch more than half an episode before you can judge it and be taken seriously. It's a show that requires an attention span which is a fucking breath of relief imo.

Hah, are we bringing that discussion over here now?
As for Lost, I think there are some shows that don't really work if you try to pick them up in the middle, but are pretty captivating if you watch from the start. Lost has its ups and downs, but I don't think you can get a good bead on the show just by watching a random episode.
Also, I thought it was on ABC?
[edit] Turtle and I are in agreement!
