What the hell, error "your video hardware does not support systemshock2" - by Chainhit

I was playing system shock 2 multiplayer with a friend, and we got some weird ass error (he could not go through first door, claiming it was locked (i saw him get blocked by an open door)), so we restarted... and i hosted. Then when i started the game up again i got a black screen and then when i clicked alt control delete i got the "your video hardware does not support system shock 2".
It did not work in single player either. Then I restarted, and it still did not work. I also reinstalled systemshock, tried with and without mods, but i get the same error.
Can someone tell me what the fuck to do? i mean the god damn thing was running fine yestoday and earlier today, it just broke after i reset the game.
I dont understand why this happened, because i did NOTHING with my drivers and whatever.
Again i repeat it worked fine on this system till it just broke, and would not run after resets or nothing.
I tried safe texture manager and the updated ss2 executable.
:(
please help me

When you say it's got nothing to do with your drivers... That does mean you re-installed those... Right? ;)

Definitely a graphics card / driver issue.
I get this error from time to time on my laptop (seems to have some buggy OEM drivers, I've been meaning to update them but the official ATI drivers won't recognise the card...), and rebooting the computer always fixes it for me.

Yeah, sounds like the drivers to me as well. Just update them, though downgrading is also a possibility if you don't play modern games.

I got it to work by reinstalling system shock 2 on my E drive. :D

An unusual solution I have to admit, but I'm glad it's working now. :)

I think it was just that some file got currupted, because my friends problem was that he installed straylights mod OVER hitorque, so we were in different medsci's (hence the i saw door open he saw it closed problem). Or my D drive is cursed. I tried deleting the entire installation too, folder and all.
power to the E drive :cheeky:

I don't have an E:\ drive. :(
