If we're talking about games, then strangely enough I would have to say those moments where you may fall to your death from a great height. Be it walking across something narrow or jumping from ledge to ledge. I'm not afraid of heights and have had to do some crazy arse shit in my time, but for some reason this is the only thing in games that makes my heart race.
On the other hand, if we're not talking about games, then I would have to say being stuck in shark infested water. As in actually being in the water. That and dolls. Dolls are creepy as hell.

Human brutality scares me ... Like Manhunt
Manhunt reminds me of random, drunken violence on nights out which can be incredibly fecking scary.
You can't reason with them which leaves you with the option of getting the hell out of there (not always possible) or suppressing them (again, not always possible).
A few months back I came out the cinema quite late at night and witnessed two groups of older (
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chav) chavs beating the hell out of each in the car park (something to do with "don't look at my girlfriend you tosser", apparently) - teeth and blood were flying all over the place and one of them was actually trying to run some of the others down with a riced beyond belief (
http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=Saxo) Saxo. I find real violence not only pretty scary to watch but there's also the nagging doubt that I should intervene and do something other than making sure my girl and I get out there safely, yet knowing that if I do, the best outcome is that I'm going to end up wearing my nose if I'm lucky.

Heights in games bother me too. Falling in Assassin's Creed, and certainly some of the Bonehoard stuff in Thief. Psychonauts has a few gravity defying moments as well. Probably why I've yet to play Mirror's Edge. Remember that section in SS2 where you have to creep out onto a girder over the vast expanse of infinite space to retrieve a key card? That shit makes my testicles crawl.

The only time height gave me a jolt was when Russell (Garrett) spoke while I was on the beam in TMA crossing to the arsenal from the bank, in Life of the Party.

We just had some job cuts; and had to let go 10 people; just this past Friday. I'm hoping none of them come back to our building and "go postal" on us. A few of them really looked pissed off :grr:

So, the guy who sits next to me at work is considering getting laser eye surgery. Now, I'd always thought that the odds of me ever getting that done were minimal because of the cost - they're quoting him £3,500 because of the strength of correction needed, including astigmatism. But after hearing him talk, I'm never going to go near it even if it's free.
He was complaining about the price, since the brochures say 'from £400 per eye'. At which point the guy on the other side of me pipes up with 'partly it depends on whether they can use the mechanical slicing machine'. At this point I start to tingle a bit. It seems that what they do is cut a flap into your cornea, do some lasering on what's underneath, then put the flap back. And you may not get a person doing this, it may be some machine that, in my nightmares, carries on working no matter what horrible things have gone wrong. It probably whistles electronically as it does so.
But the worst part?
This all happens under local anaesthetic.
Having my eyes cut up is one thing. Being awake and having to watch and listen is quite another.

Being stabbed with glowing hot irons. And other things that would generally scorch/burn/melt my flesh, but hot irons is the scariest to me by leaps and bounds. Also just being set on fire is pretty bad in my book particularly if isn't in a way that will kill me within fifteen seconds.

The sea. No, not C'thulhu (though it would be awesome to offer him/it a beer on a sunny beach), but there's so much weird stuff living in the depths of the oceans it just makes me shudder thinking about the deep dark corners that no one has explored yet, by actually going there and checking.

It's really not so bad. The smell of the laser working (like eggs frying) actually made me feel hungry.
