What overturning Roe v. Wade could mean for birth control access, maternal care - by Dia

What "legal framework?" It's a bunch of words written on sheepskin by dead white slaveholders, and it's routinely ignored by conservatives who claim to be obsessed with upholding it. It's little more than a prop, stripped of any actual meaning in governance; its uselessness is defined by things like the 18th amendment.
It's toilet paper and the founding fathers' graves are gender-neutral bathrooms. Fuck your constitution. We don't need it to build a functioning society. Spare me your fake concern about queer people and women especially when WE ARE IN TROUBLE RIGHT NOW. The constitution isn't protecting us. If it were, this thread wouldn't even exist and nobody would have to read your sophistry.

I love you June.

Apparently, there was a 10-year-old rape victim in Ohio who had to travel to Indiana in order to get an abortion.
Of course, following this horrific incident, Republican legislators immediately sprung into action to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again...

I've been following that poor little girl's plight and am without a doubt horrified by the reactions of the far-right Republicans to this case. There are some GOP politicians who would've forced that child to be further traumatized by forcing her to go through with a pregnancy that she didn't want and didn't ask for; she didn't ask to be brutally raped or impregnated by her rapist, ffs. Doctors have gone public trying to explain to those misogynist Republicans that the body of a 10 YEAR OLD GIRL is NOT developed enough to successfully carry a fetus to full term, let alone allow that she'd survive labor and delivery. As if being raped multiple times by a monster who impregnated her wasn't traumatizing enough for any child. (By the way, the child was only 9 years old when she was raped and just recently turned 10.) Yes, the man who raped that poor child is a monster and thankfully has been caught and will be prosecuted, but what kind of monster wants to add to that child's trauma by further victimizing her? I can answer that: a monster like Indiana's AG Rokita, who's jumped on his soapbox and is in the process of trying to turn the whole issue into his own personal 3 ring circus.
Rokita has not only set out on his self-righteous witch hunt against the Indiana doctor who performed the merciful abortion, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, but Rokita is also demanding that poor child's name be made public. What the actual fuck??!!!! First of all, Dr. Bernard's lawyer has already stated publicly that he has legitimate proof that his client did indeed file the mandatory reports regarding rape of a minor and abortion performed on that minor, in a timely manner. Yet Rokita won't back down and is still insisting that he believes the doctor violated the laws and never filed those reports. Yo Einstein, her attorney already said he has proof that she did. Common sense indicates that the lawyer is telling the truth, given how paranoid doctors who perform abortions have become since the legality of abortions was handed over to states' control (may the gods that be forever curse the names of those far-right justices), you can bet any money that doctor filed those reports as quickly as she possibly could. And now, thanks to Rokita's witch hunt, doctors are going to be erring on the side of caution and women and girls will be dying in unbelievable numbers. Doctors in red states have already been cautioned that in the case of a woman (or girl) seeking an abortion because her life is endangered by the pregnancy, to 'wait and see if the situation resolves itself'. Umm, yeah/no; in cases of ectopic pregnancies that 'wait and see' procedure will inevitably be fatal for the woman. You don't waste any time when there's an ectopic pregnancy; once the embryo grows too large to be contained in the fallopian tube, the tube ruptures and the woman has minutes before she bleeds to death internally. And that process happens a lot faster than most people realize. Same story with women who've suffered complicated miscarriages; there are already stories being made public about women who miscarried but whose bodies never successfully expelled the fetus or parts of the fetus, etc., and who are being denied medical care (usually just a simple D&C) because even if the fetus is dead or dying, those misogynist pigs still consider the D&C an abortion. Omg. If a woman in this situation doesn't receive medical care immediately, the dead fetus or leftover matter in the uterus will quickly decompose and cause a massive infection in the woman's body and she will die. But hey, those pro-forced birther GOP assholes can pat themselves on the back because their misogynistic, horrifically ignorant bans and mandates lets them feel all self-righteous; they actually claim they're 'doing God's work'. Ffs.
Not sure why AG Rokita is demanding that victimized child's name be made public, though. Maybe he's planning a public burning at the stake? Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Have fun trying to extradite her from her home state of Ohio on any fraudulent criminal charges, pal; the poor little girl committed no crime, nor did her attending doctors in either state. I think anyone with half a brain understands the danger Rokita will be putting that child and her family in if he succeeds in obtaining her name and making it public. Afterall, the far-right pro-lifers (aka pro-forced birthers) don't bat an eye at bombing abortion clinics or shooting to death a doctor who's performed abortions, so to them, a 10 year old child would be fair game. I don't even want to imagine the nightmare that those pro-forced birther zealots would unleash on that child and her family if Rokita made her name public. *smh* Let's hope HIPAA and the federal/state laws that protect the identity of a minor victim of a crime prevail and Rokita is fired and remanded to the local psych ward.
The overturning of Roe vs Wade is turning into a hellish nightmare for women; much worse than any of us thought at first. Seems the only way we can fight back is to vote out all those misogynist Republicans who are beholden to the American Talibagelicals, and soon!! At least while women still have the right to vote. Red states are already tailoring bills to further destroy women's rights to bodily autonomy and safe reproductive healthcare (banning all forms of birth control for women) and now Justice Alito has dropped all pretense of being an 'impartial justice' and openly sided with the far-right zealots; he's already indicated that next on his agenda to be targeted are the rights of LGBTQ people. Hold on to your butts, people, this freakin', fucked up Republican circus is only going to get worse before it gets better. May felicitous gods save us from fools, madmen, sexist pigs and homophobes.

Abortion isn't a woman's issue anymore, you damned TERF, so there's nothing misogynistic about being against it. Authoritarian, maybe, but I'm opposed to abortion no matter what the gender or orientation of the person getting it. Get with the times.

I'm very much against capital punishment, but I'd happily make an exception for anyone who would force a 10 year old to carry a pregnancy to term.

Oh fuck off with the
faux outrage. How about addressing the real issue Dia mentioned, uh? You would force a
10-year-old child to bring a pregnancy to term? Are you that authoritarian?

Or the age, apparently. I shouldn't have to say this, but if you would force a ten-year-old to give birth, then you're no better than the paedophile who raped her.

You got that right for the wrong reasons. It's a body-autonomy issue for everyone.
If you are opposed to abortions, don't get one for yourself. Otherwise, GTFO.

(Bizarre ass off the wall stuff.)
Yeah man, I got to say that was some weak sauce trolling. I thought you were better than ignoring all the salient points in favor of smearing shit on the wall. And heartless too. Oh well, it's there for everyone to see right? That's the main thing for a troll. You got seen for the ugliness you wanted to show.
