Authoritarian religious Catholics.
At least fundamentalist Muslims want to take things back to the middle ages. That's not far enough back for fundamentalist Catholics.

All this means is that if Democrats want to legalize abortion, gay marriage or anything else, they have to actually do their jobs and pass a law saying so. The Court was a cowardly way to impose their agenda without being held accountable.

Bodily autonomy is already a right. It doesn't need to be decriminalized or permitted by new laws. Same with consenting adult sex.

My state of Wisconsin is in the process of reverting to the 1849 law banning ALL abortions. NO exceptions for victims of rape, incest or women whose lives are in jeopardy from a pregnancy. An 1849 law. And that's progress? Omg. I already belong to one women's rights group; looks like I'll be joining others. The only way to stop this war against women is to vote the misogynist, bible-thumping politicians who think their sperm is sacred the fuck out of office. I strongly suggest that any anti-abortion male commenting in this thread go get a vasectomy, mind your own reproductive organs and your own business. SO sick and tired of hearing from misogynist males who think it's their God-given right to destroy women's rights to autonomy of their own bodies and deny women the right to safe reproductive healthcare. Against abortion, are you Vae & RippedPhreak?? Then don't fucking have one. Mind your own business. Our uteruses are none of your concern. *smh*

Tons of women are anti-abortion and had a hand in voting those politicians into office. Go take it up with those women.

It's like toys in cereal boxes, Phreak. You don't get to open a new argument until you admit that your previous one was bullshit.

Anybody
else interested in having abortion bans float back and forth each time the government changes hands?

Constitutional law
is the more appropriate place for human rights.

Then they can just not have one.
Oh, wait - they
do have abortions. They just want to ban them for
other people.

What was bullshit? My statement of "if Democrats want to legalize abortion, gay marriage or anything else, they have to actually do their jobs and pass a law saying so." That is literally a fact. Abortion remains legal right now in liberal states like California, New York, Illinois etc. Residents of red states will be able to get legalized abortion by electing liberal state legislatures and governors if they wish to.
Your statement that abortion is a human right is disputed by many countries around the world, not just the USA. Some Euro nations for example disallow abortion after 14 or 15 weeks unless the pregnancy poses a danger to the mother...France is one just off the top of my head.

One would hope our leaders are smarter than that, but if not, oh well. Vote for better leaders maybe? (I agree both parties suck btw)

Roe v Wade was never Constitutional, because the word abortion does not appear in the Constitution. The court got around that by linking abortion to a "right to privacy" which was always clown world logic. Privacy has nothing to do with crimes. For instance if shooting up heroin isn't legal, it doesn't become legal just because you did it in the privacy of your own home.
I'm not saying abortion can't be legal, I'm just saying the government of each state has the right to set the laws and restrictions
in their state. If the people of Texas (or wherever) want abortions that badly, they will have the chance to elect Democrats and get it.
I agree that a
national abortion ban would be a step too far.

Most women notice they are pregnant by the end of the sixth week of pregnancy. This leaves plenty of time to have the necessary appointments and consultations, before they come to a decision. Furthermore, France is currently thinking about inscribing abortion rights in their constitution. So, yes, there is debate, but the debate is rather about whether this right needs constitutional protection or whether existing protections suffice, largely due to the current insanity in the US.
There are places that are very heavily Roman Catholic where abortion is either illegal or severely restricted, like Poland, Malta, Vatican City, and Andorra. And undoubtedly there are some organisations and people in other countries who want abortion to become illegal, largely due to their religious convictions. But it's still a very small minority. The overwhelming majority of countries in Europe and people in them think otherwise and want abortion to be legal and safe.
