Why not add Linux? Thief 1-2 works excellent with wine.
Thank you that answers my question. I will switch to Linux soon and was wondering if Thief2 works on it.
Windows is garbage. Most games run on Linux now.

I'm playing Thief Gold and Thief 2 on Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon 64bit (which is using the base of Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS)
I use a combination of Wine 3.0 and PlayOnLinux v 4.2.12 which utilizes wine, so that every installation is created on a separate virtual windows drive in the users /home folder.
That way any alterations (like installation of vcrun or Microsoft Core Fonts for example) in one game doesn't affect the other. And if it farks up, then just delete the virtual drive and start anew.
It appears that fog doesn't work when running wine, but other "translater" for windows files are available, like for instance Cross Over witch is proprietary software and not free (as in gratis).
I use FMsel which works like a charm, I've tried New Darkloader at got it running, but decided not to leave FMsel.
And I've set up Wine with Windows XPsp3 Compatibility.
Thief 3 can be run with the above software and OS, but it makes an annoying oddity in the in-game menu. I've only tried T3 original, not FM's.

AFAIK NewDark won't run under Windows ME, 98, 98SE or 95.
I don't play Thief 3 at all. ;)

W10. Everything works like a breeze, even OldDark. Was on 8.1 for a while which gave me problems on OD, but otherwise no issues.
Don´t see a reason to slow down my PC with the aging 7. Some other stuff runs much better on 10. In fact, 10 is just a newer version of 7 which was already a revamped Vista, so basically 10 is Vista.
(just for fun I installed TDP on my old Samsung R50 XP notebook - no DDfix needed :cheeky: )
