After playing Thief DP for the first time years ago I wanted to replay only to find it doesn't work on my PC! Much to my horror.
Anywho I have installed the patch and DarkLoader & I have tried Hyperthreading thing, doesn't work either. The plays work and I can get as far as clicking Continue to start the missions and black screen is the only result. Specs are as follows,
XP SP 2
Pentium 4
NVIDIA Geforce 6800
Any help would be (greatly) appreciated. Thanks Kera

If it is just a black screen, find the USER.cfg and delete the ';' in the line, safe_texture_manager
Give that a try.

Is it a total crash? Does the program hang, or is it a matter of missing visuals?

These symptoms seem consistent with T1 running under recent nvidia drivers.
As far as I know, you need to install older drivers for T1 to work (nothing else worked for me).
T1 works flawlessly with Nvidia drivers 84.21; Installing them however, can be tricky but it's feasible.
The reason I say 'tricky' is that you need to fool the installer with a few tweaks for this to work. pm me for details.
I just played a T1 mission moments ago, using 84.21 under WinXP SP3 / Geforce 7 series.
And switching back to newer drivers is a mere reboot away, after reinstalling them.

Go to the video options turn the hardware off. It should work with the software renderer.
Now you probably don't to stay in software mode as the rendering is really crummy. After you start a mission, try turning your hardware back on. That worked for me.
I have a GeForce 6200 and an running the latest 169 drivers.

Marsellus: Oh, that what now. I tell you what now between me and you. There is no me and you. Not no more.
Sorry, but when it comes even
indirectly to Pulp Fiction I can't handle myself.

This should be good.

Thanks folk. I tried the various suggestions, gave up wiped the game and re installed and would you know it works if my hardware on my card is off and it was hyperthreading. Only thing though is that i can't turn the hardware back on cause the game crashes :P ahh i get to play once more.
Thanks again
Though I'm hating the zero shadows thing! it's either dark (black meaning uber bright screen when coming back to windows) or blinding light.

This might seem like an insanely stupid question how do I even open this to edit it. I obviously wrongly assumed notepad!
